Dylan Nace (141 pounds) and senior
Tyler Richardson (184) posted wins as the Warriors fell 44-6 at No. 3-ranked Pitt-Johnstown in PSAC wrestling on Tuesday night.
Nace improved to 10-2 on the season with an 8-3 decision over Chris Eddins, getting a takedown and four near-fall points in the second period and a reversal in the third after trailing 2-0 after one period.
Nace remains unbeaten in duals in his ESU career (15-0) following a 13-0 dual mark as a redshirt freshman. He won his second straight 141-pound title at the Doug Parker Invitational at Springfield (Mass.) last weekend.
Richardson used a takedown late in the third period for a 5-4 decision over Levi Niebauer at 184, pushing his season record to 7-4. Richardson also had a takedown in the first period, which ended 2-2, and Niebauer had an escape to lead 3-2 after two before Richardson paired an escape and a takedown in the third for the victory.
UPJ won the other six contested bouts, five by bonus points, and won at 125 and 174 via forfeit.
The Mountain Cats sent out three nationally-ranked wrestlers and three former NCAA Division II qualifiers, including defending 165-pound champion Tyler Reinhart.
UPJ opened the action on the mat at 133, where Nolan Link pinned ESU redshirt freshman
Francesco Palagruto late in the first period.
Following Nace's win at 141, junior
Christian Silva battled UPJ's Cole Landowski, a national qualifier in 2014, in a 6-4 setback at 149. Landowski is ranked No. 4 in Super Region 1.
Cody Law, ranked No. 5 nationally and No. 1 in the region, won by technical fall, 25-9, over redshirt sophomore
Blake Cohen at 157.
ESU senior
Joey Kratochvil, ranked No. 6 in the region at 149, wrestled up two weight classes to face Reinhart at 165, with the defending national champ winning via fall midway through the first period.
No. 9-ranked John Blankenship received a forfeit for UPJ at 174.
After Richardson's victory, UPJ finished the night with a pair of falls by Tyler Oliver over senior
Brandon Steele at 197, and Allan Beattie over freshman
Daniel Makagon at 285.
ESU returns to the mat on Wednesday (November 30) with its home dual opener vs. Scranton at 7 p.m. at Koehler Fieldhouse.
