Richardson Places 4th at 184 Pounds at PSAC Wrestling Championships

LOCK HAVEN - Senior Tyler Richardson placed fourth at 184 pounds to lead East Stroudsburg University at the 2016 PSAC Wrestling Championships, held Saturday at Lock Haven.

Richardson advanced to the semifinals with an 11-8 decision vs. Levi Niebauer (Pitt-Johnstown) before falling via technical fall (15-0) vs. Dakota Geer (Edinboro). He posted a first-period fall (2:10) vs. Mike Green (Mercyhurst) and dropped a 20-5 technical fall vs. Corey Hazel (Lock Haven) in the consolation final.

Senior Joey Kratochvil (157) posted ESU's other win with a 9-7 first-round victory vs. Jared Sample (Gannon). He bowed out of the quarterfinals and consolation bracket via medical forfeit.

Richardson improved his career record to 49-36 and will look for his 50th career win in a dual at Keystone next Saturday. He is ESU's second top-four finisher in the last five years, joining Luke DeLuise, also at 184 pounds, during the 2014-15 season.

Edinboro won its sixth straight PSAC team championship and its 19th overall, tying Lock Haven for the most in PSAC history.

The PSAC's four Division I programs took the top four spots in Edinboro (156.5 points), Lock Haven (132), Clarion (96.5) and Bloomsburg (74). They were followed by DII powers Pitt-Johnstown (72) and Mercyhurst (65.5), along with Seton Hill (57.5), Gannon (57), Kutztown (45), Shippensburg (30), ESU (12.5) and Millersville (10.5).
