EDINBORO, Pa. – Four players scored in double figures, led by 15 points from junior guard Imani Brown, but East Stroudsburg University suffered its first defeat of the season in a 77-64 setback at Edinboro on Saturday afternoon.

Senior forward Allison Howard registered her 14th career double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while junior center Rebecca Rutkowski and sophomore guard Noelle Powell added 12 and 11 points, respectively, for the Warriors (5-1, 2-1 PSAC).

Howard moved past Shannon Schwilk (1996-00) for 14th place on ESU's all-time scoring list, and she jumped up to No. 12 all-time in rebounds, passing Gaye Chapman (1990-94) and Monika Fogelsanger (2004-08). She has 1,031 points and 564 boards during her time as a Warrior.

Katie Fischer (23 points) and Michelle Jahn (22 points) controlled the game offensively for the Fighting Scots (5-2, 3-0 PSAC), who are unbeaten in their last 10 home games and have won five contests in a row overall.

ESU came out of the gates strong, hitting 10 of 15 shots from the field to take a 21-18 lead into the second quarter. The two teams traded leads throughout the opening 20 minutes, as there were a total of seven ties and eight lead changes in the first half.

Edinboro, though, closed the half on a 5-0 run to take a 37-34 advantage into the intermission, and the home side also scored seven of the first nine points in the third quarter to increase the margin to 44-36 with 7:40 remaining.

The Warriors stayed within striking distance for a majority of the frame, with a Brown jumper reducing the deficit to 49-45 with 3:34 on the clock, but the Fighting Scots scored the next six to grab their largest lead of the contest, and ESU could not get closer than eight points the rest of the way.

Brown hit 6 of 11 shots from the field, including her only 3-point attempt, and she also contributed a team-high three steals. Rutkowski, meanwhile, hit 6 of 13 attempts to reach double figures for a second time this season.

All 11 of Powell's points came in the second half, and she has now scored 10+ points in 5 of 6 games. She played in 18 minutes off the bench before fouling out with 4:55 left in regulation.

ESU's shooting percentage dropped to 33.3 percent (11-33) in the second half, while Edinboro shot 53.6 percent (15-28) from the field after the intermission.

The Warriors will look to get back at Mercyhurst at 1 p.m. on Sunday in a matchup between two regionally-ranked teams. ESU is currently No. 3 in the D2SIDA Atlantic Region rankings while the Lakers (6-1, 3-0 PSAC) were No. 7 in the most-recent poll.
