Box Score

CHEYNEY, Pa. – Senior forward Allison Howard registered 13 points and nine rebounds, while freshmen guards Jordan Hertz and Tiffany Lapotsky each dished out a season-high eight assists to help East Stroudsburg University cruise to an 86-52 victory at Cheyney on Friday evening.

Junior center Rebecca Rutkowski added 10 points for the Warriors (7-3, 3-3 PSAC), who posted their largest victory of the season and earned their 11th straight win over the Wolves (0-6, 0-6 PSAC). All 14 Warriors who appeared in tonight's game scored at least two points.

Hertz and Lapotsky become the first ESU teammates to tally eight assists apiece in a game in at least 15 years. The Warriors totaled 25 assists overall, eclipsing their previous season high of 20 set in a win over Chestnut Hill on Nov. 28.

Lapotsky, making the first start of her collegiate career, added eight points on 3 of 4 shooting from the field. Senior guard Madison Tamburini and sophomore guard Noelle Powell chipped in nine points apiece.

ESU controlled the game from the opening tip-off, jumping out to a 21-9 advantage by the end of the first quarter. All nine of Powell's points came in the opening quarter, with the Glen Mills, Pa., native drilling each of her three 3-point attempts.

The Warriors built their lead up to 41-18 at halftime, with Rutkowski netting eight of her 10 points in the second quarter. Tamburini then recorded all nine of her points in the third quarter as ESU took a 69-33 edge into the final 10 minutes.

The large margin on the scoreboard gave several underclassmen an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the second half. Sophomore guard Ann McKnight scored a career-high seven points in 12 minutes off the bench, sinking 3 of 5 field goal attempts, while freshman center Alison Bauman matched Howard for the team lead with nine rebounds, including five on the offensive end.

Bauman (three points) and sophomore center Meghan Boryeskne (four points) each contributed their first points of the season.

The Warriors led by as many as 46 points in the fourth quarter before Cheyney ended the contest on a 15-3 run. Briana Hedgepeth led the Wolves with 13 points and a pair of steals.

ESU returns to Koehler Fieldhouse for the first time since December 7 on Tuesday night, with the Warriors welcoming Lock Haven (5-5, 2-4 PSAC) for a PSAC East contest scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

Notes:

Howard has now scored 10+ points in all 10 games this season. She is currently 12th on ESU's all-time rebounding list with 593 boards, two shy of Amy Jones (2003-07) for 11th place and six back of Megan Huntingdon (1994-98) for 10th.

Hertz and Lapotsky's eight assists were the most for an ESU player this season. Hertz had the previous high mark, dishing out six helpers at Edinboro on Dec. 3.

Powell finished the game 3 for 4 from 3-point range. She entered tonight leading the PSAC in 3-point field goal percentage (46.8).
