YORK - Senior Ashleigh Podhayny placed ninth and sophomore Kate Zimmerman was 13th in the 400 IM for East Stroudsburg University on the second day of the 2016 PSAC Swimming Championships, held Friday at the York YMCA.

Podhayny swam 4:36.40 and Zimmerman had a PR of 4:42.30 in the evening session.

Podhayny was 10th in the prelims (4:40.11) with Zimmerman 13th (4:44.26) on Friday morning to qualify for the consolation final.

Podhayny's 4:36.40 in the final was a season best by just under a second, entering as the No. 4 seed at 4:37.35. She holds the school record (4:35.18) which she swam to finish seventh in the championship final last year.

Both of Zimmerman's times on Friday were a personal best, entering 10th in the PSAC in 4:44.72. She remains fourth on ESU's all-time 400 IM list (4:42.30).

Podhayny was also ninth in the 200 IM on Thursday. Zimmerman just missed the consolation final in the 200 IM, placing 17th. She was 16th in both events as a freshman.

On Friday morning, sophomore Allison Cardow was tied for 19th in the 100 fly (59.55), a PR of almost a second. Sophomore Annie Fagan was 22nd (59.82) and senior Sophie Coy 23rd with a PR (1:00.05).

ESU's 200 free relay was seventh with junior Kelly Buyaskas, Coy, senior Alexandra Woytko and Fagan clocking 1:39.29.

The Warriors were 10th in the 400 medley relay (4:03.19) from the quartet of Podhayny, Zimmerman, Cardow and Fagan.

The 500 free, 100 back, 100 breast, 200 fly and 800 free relay are on deck for the third day of competition on Saturday.
