Imani Brown had 11 each, leading East Stroudsburg University to a 65-55 win over Lock Haven in PSAC East women's basketball on Saturday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.
ESU (13-12, 11-10) held Lock Haven to a 30.6 percent (19-for-62) effort from the field and blocked 10 shots. The Warriors entered as the PSAC leader with 5.0 blocks per game and ranked third in the PSAC in field goal defense (37.5).
ESU recognized three seniors - Reviere (15 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals), guard
Melissa Poderis (7 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal) and center
Michelle Boggs (6 rebounds, 1 block) - prior to the game as the Warriors moved a game ahead of Bloomsburg for the PSAC's No. 4 seed entering the final game of the regular season on Wednesday.
ESU led 32-27 at halftime with junior forward
Allison Howard (16.2 ppg) held scoreless due to two fouls, but Howard scored the Warriors' first seven points of the second half as ESU maintained its lead between four and 11 points after intermission.
LHU (11-15, 8-14) pulled within 48-44 at the seven-minute mark of the fourth quarter, but freshman guard
Noelle Powell and Poderis hit back-to-back three's to keep ESU in front.
Sophomore forward
Rebecca Rutkowski, the PSAC leader in blocks (2.2 per game), had seven points and five of ESU's 10 blocks to spearhead the defensive effort.
Jaylyn Shelton-Burleigh scored 13 points, Mackenzie Livingston had 12, J.J. Hilliard scored 10 and Lysa Mealing, DII's leading rebounder (13.6 rpg) had six points and 10 boards for LHU.
Poderis entered ESU's career top 10 in assists (238). Poderis entered the game ranked eighth in the PSAC in assists (4.3 apg) and steals (2.0 spg).
The Warriors forced 24 Lock Haven turnovers along with their 10 blocked shots.
ESU travels to Millersville (17-7, 13-7) for its final regular season game on Wednesday. The Warriors are one game ahead of Bloomsburg (13-12, 10-11) for fourth after the Huskies fell to Cheyney on Saturday. ESU is in contention for a top-four seed and home first round game on Saturday, February 27. The Warriors have already qualified for the PSAC Tournament for the fourth straight season.
