2/5/2016 12:00:00 AM

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Junior Steven Morgan ran an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time in the 60m hurdles, leading East Stroudsburg University's 11 participants at the Armory Track Invitational at the Fort Washington Avenue Armory in New York City on Friday.

Morgan ran 8.14 seconds, a personal best and the second-fastest time in school history, to better the NCAA DII provisional time of 8.27. He ran 8.29 last week at Lehigh. Morgan's previous PR was 8.19 at last year's PSAC Championships, and his 8.14 has been bettered by only Rusty Smith (8.04 in 2008) in ESU history.

Morgan is a three-time PSAC champion, winning both the 60m hurdles indoors and 110m hurdles outdoors last year and capturing the 110m hurdles as a freshman in 2014.

Senior Chelsea Conover clocked 10:17.52 in the 3000m, a PSAC qualifier and the 10th-fastest time in school history.

Junior Allison Decker ran in the top DI heat in the 3000m and posted 10:18.42, after running the PSAC's third-fastest time this year (17:47.94) in the 5000m last week at Lehigh.

Sophomores Kaylyn West and Samantha Young both had impressive times in the 1000m, an event that is not contested at the PSAC Championships.

West ran 2:59.56, second-fastest in school history, after turning in the PSAC's No. 2 time this year (2:21.66) in the 800m last week. She also ran a PSAC qualifier in the mile at Lehigh.

Young posted 3:02.18, fourth-fastest in school history. She also had a PSAC qualifying time in the mile last week.

Junior Alec Lederer ran 8:45.94 in the men's 3000m, a PSAC qualifier and just outside ESU's all-time indoor top 10. Lederer ran a PSAC qualifying time in the 5000m last week.

Junior Robert Garvey ran a season-best 51.36 in the 400m, improving his PSAC qualifying time.

Morgan is the third ESU men's athlete to post an NCAA provisional qualifying effort this season, joining senior William Berry in the high jump (7-0 1/2 - currently t-2nd in DII) and graduate student Travis Toth in the weight throw (60-5 1/4 - currently 13th in DII).

ESU will host its 17th Annual DeSchriver Invitational on Saturday at Koehler Fieldhouse.
