ESU Women’s Basketball Posts 64-47 Win at Cheyney

CHEYNEY - Sophomore guard Imani Brown scored 13 points to lead a balanced scoring effort and East Stroudsburg University held Cheyney to 32.0 percent shooting in a 64-47 win in PSAC East women's basketball on Saturday afternoon at Cope Hall.

ESU (11-10, 9-8) won for the 10th time in 13 games and posted its 10th straight win vs. Cheyney since the start of the 2012-13 season.

Senior guard Tyeca Reviere, junior forward Allison Howard and junior guard Rachel Falkowski scored nine points each, senior guard Melissa Poderis scored eight and senior center Michelle Boggs had seven points and seven rebounds for the Warriors.

Shania Stamper scored 11 points and Kyra Hines-Allen had 10 to lead Cheyney (2-18, 0-16).

The Warriors held Cheyney to one field in a 20-minute stretch from midway through the second quarter until midway through the fourth, before the Wolves scored 23 points in the final stanza (21 in the last 6:41) to close the margin.

ESU's biggest lead was 23 points (49-26) at the 6:55 mark of the fourth quarter.

ESU trailed 14-11 after the first quarter and 19-13 midway through the second, before closing the first half on a 14-3 run to take a 27-22 lead into the locker room.

The Warriors held Cheyney without a field goal for the entire third quarter, winning the 10-minute segment 14-2, to lead 41-24 entering the fourth.

Cheyney was 16-for-50 (32.0 percent) overall and 1-for-13 from the three-point line.

ESU had a 10-rebound advantage and shot 41.1 percent (23-for-56) from the field, 4-for-15 from long range.

The Warriors host West Chester (16-5, 13-4), currently a half-game out of first place in the PSAC East, on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. ESU fell 84-67 at West Chester on January 9.
