SALEM, Va. - Junior Rae Holden hit three home runs, including a grand slam, in a 12-2 (6 inn.) win vs. Ursuline and East Stroudsburg University posted a 5-2 win vs. Clarion in its second game of the day on Saturday in Salem, Virginia.

Holden's three home runs are the most by an ESU player since at least 2003 as she homered in her final three at bats of the game, capped by the grand slam in the sixth inning.

ESU (4-0), which swept a doubleheader at Virginia State on Friday, faces Davis & Elkins and Lake Erie on Sunday.

Sophomore OF Cristina Coppola homered in both games as ESU has hit nine home runs in its first four contests.

Junior Rachael Liguori threw a complete game vs. Ursuline and the Warriors scored three runs in the fourth inning, two in the fifth and seven in the sixth.

Senior Allison Mende was the winning pitcher vs. Clarion, throwing 4.0 scoreless innings and allowing just one hit.

Five Warriors had three hits each on Saturday - Holden (3-for-6, 3 HR, 6 RBI, 4 runs), Coppola (3-for-7, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 3 runs), senior catcher Haley Thomas (3-for-6, double, 4 RBI, run), sophomore OF Katherine Liedberg (3-for-6, 2 RBI, 2 runs) and sophomore OF Madison Oren (3-for-7, double, 2 RBI, run).

Thomas was 7-for-8 with a pair of home runs at Virginia State and is hitting 10-for-14 with two doubles, two homers, 7 RBI and six runs in the first four games.

Holden doubled her career home run total to six after hitting one as a freshman and two as a sophomore. Coppola's home runs were the first two of her career.

Seven Warriors had hit two home runs in a game since 2003, including Holden at Millersville last season.

ESU's four home runs vs. Ursuline (Holden 3, Coppola 1) are also ESU's most since 2003.

GAME 1 - W 12-2 vs. Ursuline

Holden homered in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, finishing 3-for-4 with six RBI, and Thomas was 3-for-4 to lead a 15-hit offense.

Ursuline scored single runs in the first and second innings to lead 2-0 before ESU surged in front.

Holden led off the fourth inning with a home run, followed by singles by Thomas and sophomore 2B Heather Visco, who both scored on a two-run double by Oren for a 3-2 lead.

Coppola and Holden hit back-to-back homers with one out in the fifth, and the Warriors put the game away with seven runs in the sixth.

Liedberg and Orden both singled and scored on a two-RBI single by freshman 3B Samantha Pickar. Sophomore SS Mary Wallick was hit by a pitch and Coppola singled to load the bases for Holden, who launched a grand slam for her third homer of the game.

ESU added its final run as Visco singled, stole second and scored on an RBI single by Liedberg.

Liguori went all 6.0 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and two walks.

GAME 2 - W 5-2 vs. Clarion

Both teams scored two runs in the first inning, then ESU plated single runs in the third, fourth and sixth as Mende held the Golden Eagles scoreless.

In the first, Wallick singled, Holden walked and senior 1B Danielle Dungee hit a two-RBI double to tie the game at 2-2.

ESU took the lead on a solo homer by Coppola in the third, her second of the day.

Liedberg singled and scored on an RBI double by Pickar in the fourth, and Visco reached on an error and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Liedberg in the sixth.

Dungee was 2-for-3 with two RBI in the clenaup spot to lead the offense, which had six hits.

Senior Amanda Carlin started in the circle and went 3.0 innings. Both runs in the first inning were unearned, and Mende entered in relief to start the fourth.
