EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior attack Lauren Nunes had two goals and eight assists, setting school records for assists in a game and career, in East Stroudsburg University's 22-4 win vs. Wilmington in non-conference women's lacrosse on Tuesday afternoon at Whitenight Field.

Nunes (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) set ESU's career record with her third assist of the game, a goal by redshirt junior midfielder Jamie Zimmer with 11:58 left in the first half, to break the mark of 78 career assists set by Antonia Giannopoulos (2001-03).

She had two goals and five assists in the first half, adding three more assists in the second half to finish the day with 84 in her career.

Her eight assists broke a single-game record shared by three players - Kim Niles vs. Kean (1999), Kristin Restivo vs. Philadelphia U (2000) and Giannopoulos vs. Scranton (2003).

Nunes has 31 assists this season for ESU (7-1), six from the single-season record of 37 set by Giannopoulos in 2003.

Freshman midfielder Taylor Jefferis had three goals and three assists and senior attack Samantha Weinert had three goals and one assist, both record their first career hat tricks.

Senior attack Kaitlynn Wiltraut added three goals for the Warriors, who had 11 players find the net. Nunes was one of five with two goals, along with sophomore midfielder Chessie Rahmer (2 goals, 2 assists), senior midfielder Annastasia Porpora (2 goals, 1 assist), Zimmer and junior attack Lauren Green.

Senior midfielder Whitney Wilkinson and freshman attack Brooke Fritz both had a goal and an assist, and junior midfielder Emily Fitzsimmons also scored. Senior midfielder Samantha Hosford recorded her first career assist.

ESU led 5-3 at the 13:52 mark of the first half before scoring 16 straight goals - nine to close the first half with a 14-3 lead, and the first seven of the second half.

La'Dae Boykin scored two goals to lead Wilmington (0-5).

Nunes became the fifth ESU player with 200 career points and ranks fourth in school history - Restivo (228 - 1997-00), Molly O'Hara (221 - 2008-11), Michelle Mangiaruga (210 - 2008-11), Nunes (205) and Megan Macauley (201 - 1997-00).

Her eight assists rank tied for eighth in the PSAC single-game record book and are the third-most in a DII game this season.

Her 10 points on Tuesday are ESU's most in a game since at least 2004. She had nine points on five goals and four assists in the Warriors' 18-10 win vs. Slippery Rock on Saturday.

She entered the week ranked sixth in DII in assists per game (3.29) and seventh in points per game (5.57) and has 49 points (18 goals, 31 assists) through eight games this season.

ESU travels to Gannon for a PSAC game on Saturday. The Warriors are 2-1 in the conference with wins at Bloomsburg (9-7) and vs. Slippery Rock (18-10) after a 12-11 loss at Millersville. Gannon (4-3, 1-1) is at crosstown rival Mercyhurst on Wednesday before hosting the Warriors Saturday.
