EASTON - Senior William Berry (high jump) and graduate student Travis Toth (hammer) both hit NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks in their events as East Stroudsburg University competed at the Lafayette 7-Way Meet on Friday and Saturday at the Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex.

Both athletes made their outdoor season debuts after earning All-America second team honors two weeks ago during the indoor season. Berry was 12th in the high jump and Toth was 10th in the weight throw. Both also won their third career PSAC championships during the winter.

Toth hit a mark of 198-9, just off his PR of 198-11 which won the 2014 PSAC championship, on Friday afternoon to easily surpass the NCAA DII provisional mark of 175-10.

He was eighth in DII at 193-1 to earn All-America honors outdoors in 2014, his most recent season of competition after taking a redshirt during the 2015 season. Toth has hit the NCAA provisional qualifying standard in his event in six of his eight seasons (indoor/outdoor) at ESU.

Berry cleared 6-8 1/4 in the high jump to earn his eighth straight season of competition with at least an NCAA provisional mark. He is a four-time NCAA qualifier and was 10th outdoors last season.

Overall, ESU athletes combined for 15 new and four improved PSAC qualifiers on the second weekend of the outdoor season.

ESU's women had six new and one improved PSAC qualifiers, led by sophomore Kaylyn West, who ran 4:45.14 in the 1500m (9th-fastest at ESU) after qualifying in the 3000m steeplechase (11:12.72) last week at Charlotte.

Freshman Victoria Matthews (400m - 59.48), sophomore Samantha Young (5000m - 18:32.21), sophomore Jaid Harsch (400m hurdles - 1:07.91), junior Brandie Tartza (pole vault - 11-1 3/4) and freshman Joanne Mason (triple jump - 36-0 3/4) all had new PSAC qualifiers, and sophomore Taylor Watkins (javelin - 125-0) improved her PSAC mark from last week.

Tartza's pole vault mark is the 3rd-best recorded at ESU, and Mason's triple jump mark is tied for 8th.

New PSAC qualifiers for the men are freshman Patrick Monahan in the 100m (11.17) and 200m (22.28), senior Derrick Washington, the defending PSAC champion in the 400m, in the 200m (22.35), sophomore Sean Halligan in the 800m (1:56.12), freshman Khai Samuels in the 800m (1:56.15), sophomore Christian Castro in the 110m hurdles (15.48) and freshman Casey Clearie in the javelin (167-10).
