ESU Lacrosse Falls to Seton Hill, 12-10; Nunes Sets Single-Season Assist Record

EAST STROUDSBURG - Emily Fagan had four goals and an assist, leading Seton Hill to a 12-10 win vs. East Stroudsburg University in PSAC lacrosse on Friday afternoon at Whitenight Field.

Senior attack Lauren Nunes had a goal and three assists to set ESU's single-season assist record, senior attack Kaitlynn Wiltraut had two goals and two assists and sophomore midfielder Chessie Rahmer had three goals to lead the Warriors (9-2, 4-2).

ESU upended No. 6-ranked Lock Haven, 8-7, on Tuesday behind five goals and two assists from Nunes. Her 40 assists this season break the school record of 37 set by Antonia Giannopoulos in 2003.

Nunes entered the weekend as the PSAC leader in points per game (6.40) and second in assists per game (3.70), pushing her updated season totals to 68 points on 28 goals and 40 assists in 11 games.

Seton Hill (3-7, 2-4) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first 8:18, and the Warriors were never able to pull even after closing the margin to one seven times. The two teams traded goals throughout the second half after ESU closed within 5-4 late in the first half.

Senior midfielder Annastasia Porpora had one goal and one assist and redshirt junior midfielder Jamie Zimmer, freshman attack Brooke Fritz and freshman midfielder Taylor Jefferis also scored for the Warriors. Junior midfielder Emily Fitzsimmons added an assist.

Four Seton Hill players scored multiple goals in Fagan, Renee Kania (2 goals, 1 assist), Alessandra Nicholas (2 goals, 1 assist) and Katelyn Cressman (2 goals). Charlotte Cunningham added a team-high three assists for the Griffins.

ESU held advantages of 28-23 in shots and 16-8 in draw controls, but Seton Hill's Meghan Hollar produced 14 saves. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Jessica Maxwell had eight saves for ESU.

The Warriors had won four consecutive PSAC games, tying the longest streak in program history (2000, twice in 2008).

ESU hosts Edinboro (5-5, 1-5) on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Fighting Scots fell 11-10 at Kutztown on Friday.
