Mercyhurst had advantages of 27-22 in shots and 12-7 in draw controls. Both teams had 12 turnovers.
The Lakers led 6-4 at halftime, running out to a 4-1 lead before goals by Stratten and Wiltraut in an 18-second stretch at the nine-minute mark. Mercyhurst answered with a pair of goals, and Rahmer scored with 44 seconds left to cut the deficit to two goals at intermission.
ESU pulled within 6-5 on a goal by Zimmer 53 seconds into the second half, and tied it on a goal by Jefferis, assisted by Hosford, with 14:10 left.
Lawson put Mercyhurst ahead 7-6 as Lawson scored from Gebhardt with 11:29 remaining.

Jessica Maxwell had 11 saves for ESU, and Gabby Gravino had 10 saves for Mercyhurst.
ESU hosts Kutztown on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The Warriors' 11 wins are tied for the school record with teams in 2000 (11-5), 2008 (11-7) and 2010 (11-7).
