Allison Mende threw a complete game two-hitter and senior catcher
Haley Thomas hit a three-run home run, leading East Stroudsburg University to a 4-1 win in the nightcap and a PSAC East softball doubleheader split at Kutztown on Saturday afternoon.
Mende didn't allow a hit after the second inning, retiring 16 of the final 17 batters she faced and getting a double play after an error in the fifth.
Thomas hit her fifth home run of the season to break a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning. Senior 1B
Danielle Dungee hit a solo homer for the Warriors (16-18, 2-12) in the second inning after Kutztown plated its only run in the first.
Kutztown (25-11, 8-4) won the opener, 9-1 (5 inn.), scoring two runs in the second and third, one in the fourth and five in the fifth. Savannah Nierintz threw a complete game two-hitter and was also 3-for-3 at the plate.

Katherine Liedberg hit a solo homer to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
ESU had nine hits in game two with senior
Sierra Wagner (2-for-3, double) and Dungee (2-for-3, HR) both collecting two hits.
Thomas, ranked in the top 10 in the PSAC in batting average (.426) entering Saturday, was 1-for-1 with two walks in the second game, and 1-for-3 on the day overall. She will enter the final week of the season batting .423 (41-for-97).
After Dungee tied the game in the second with her fifth homer of the season, the Warriors put two runners on base before Thomas' home run in the fourth. Wagner and Dungee both singled with one out, and Thomas followed with her blast down the left field line for a 4-1 lead.
Mende improved to 4-5 on the season and threw her third complete game this year, all in her last three starts.
ESU plays three doubleheaders next week, at Philadelphia University on Tuesday, home vs. Bloomsburg on Wednesday and at Shippensburg on Friday, to close the 2016 season.
