Desiraye Mack scored three goals in the first 25:01, leading No. 1-ranked East Stroudsburg University to a 4-0 win over No. 9 West Chester in non-conference field hockey on Wednesday afternoon at Whitenight Field.
Mack scored her three goals in a span of 10:12 midway through the first half and junior midfielder
Sydney McCarthy added the game's fourth goal with 8:22 remaining for ESU (4-2), which travels to No. 2 Shippensburg (5-0) for a match-up of the top two teams in this week's NFHCA Division II poll on Saturday.
ESU posted its fourth straight win over West Chester by a combined margin of 17-3. The Warriors won all three meetings in 2015 on the way to their first-ever PSAC and NCAA Division II championships - beating the Golden Rams 4-0 during the regular season, 3-1 in the PSAC semifinals and 6-2 in the NCAA semifinals.
Mack opened the scoring 14:49 into the game on an assist from sophomore forward
Bailey Quinn, converted a penalty stroke just over three minutes later, and completed her first career three-goal game on an assist from sophomore forward
Kelli Shapiro with 9:59 remaining until halftime.
Mack, an NFHCA All-America first team selection in 2015, was ESU's second-leading scorer with 12 goals last season and had her first three goals of the year vs. West Chester.
McCarthy's goal was her first of the season and the third of her career.
Senior goalkeeper
Danielle Ard made eight saves for her second shutout of the season and the 14th of her career. She posted her first solo shutout of the season and the ninth of her career in 49 starts.
West Chester (2-3) held a slight 17-16 advantage in shots, with ESU holding a commanding 14-6 margin in penalty corners.
Saturday's game at Shippensburg will be ESU's second as the No. 1-ranked team in a No. 1 vs. No. 2 match-up. The Warriors edged Millersville, 1-0, in last year's PSAC championship game at Whitenight Field.
