ESU Women’s Volleyball Starts Season with Wins vs. Lincoln, Bluefield State

EAST STROUDSBURG - Freshman outside hitter Sarah Smith had a team-high 21 kills, including 13 in a four-set win vs. Bluefield State, to lead East Stroudsburg University to a pair of home wins to open the 2016 women's volleyball season on Friday at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Junior middle blocker Courtney Miller added 13 kills, a .393 attack percentage and five block assists over the two matches as ESU topped Lincoln, 3-0 (25-13, 25-6, 25-11) and Bluefield State 3-1 (25-15, 20-25, 25-19, 25-12).

Sophomore Tina Predojevic had 12 kills, 41 assists, six aces and 15 digs - contributing five kills, 20 assists and seven digs in the opener, and seven kills, 21 assists and eight digs vs. Bluefield.

Sophomore setter Kimberly McCann had a double-double in the win vs. Bluefield with 15 assists and 13 digs. Freshman libero Abby Moore added 23 digs in the four-set victory.

Junior outside hitter Rosa Veliky had 10 kills and 10 digs on the day, with eight kills and seven digs vs. Bluefield, and junior outside hitter Sarah Fillman had seven kills in the contest.

Junior outside hitter Maddie Reichard had six kills on eight attacks in the win vs. Lincoln, helping the Warriors hit .375 (34 kills, 7 errors, 72 attacks).

ESU finishes the weekend with two matches on Saturday, hosting Pace at 12 p.m. and Caldwell at 6 p.m.
