EASTON, Mass. - Senior forward
Robin Stevenson scored both goals, including the game-winner nine minutes into the second half, giving No. 1-ranked East Stroudsburg University a 2-1 win at No. 5 Stonehill in non-conference field hockey on Saturday afternoon.
ESU, the defending NCAA Division II champion, improved to 2-0 with wins vs. the top two teams in the East Region last year. The Warriors upended No. 4 Merrimack, 4-2, in their season opener on Friday in a rematch of their 1-0 (OT) win in last year's national championship game.
Stevenson scored with 4:42 left in the first half, assisted by senior back
Emily Howell, and scored the go-ahead goal 8:58 into the second half, assisted by junior midfielder
Sydney McCarthy.
Stonehill (0-1) took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Kacie Smith with just over 10 minutes left in the first half before ESU tied it five minutes later.
ESU held a 23-9 advantage in shots, including 12-2 in the second half. The Warriors had a 5-3 edge in penalty corners.

Danielle Ard had six saves for the Warriors, and Sara Freedman made 12 saves for the Skyhawks.
Stevenson scored ESU's final goal in Friday's win at Merrimack and has three goals and an assist through two games this season. She is ESU's second-leading active scorer with 13 career goals, trailing senior midfielder
Desiraye Mack (15), an NFHCA All-America first team selection as a junior.
ESU improves to 9-2 with a No. 1 national ranking in the NFHCA DII poll (since 2004). The Warriors were 6-1 with a No. 1 ranking last year, and 1-1 when ranked No. 1 in 2010.
The Warriors travel to No. 8 Bloomsburg for a non-conference game on Tuesday.
