EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior back Laurel Neira headed in a corner kick 5:03 into the game and freshman forward Amy Strauser scored the go-ahead goal with 5:11 left in the first half, leading No. 9-ranked East Stroudsburg University to a 2-1 win vs. Shippensburg in PSAC women's soccer on Saturday afternoon at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

Neira scored her first goal of the season and ninth of her career on a corner kick taken by senior back Hannah Gombos, and Strauser scored her first career goal on an assist from senior midfielder Shea Neal.

Strauser's goal was just 2:12 after Shippensburg (1-1, 1-1) tied the game at 1-1 on a goal by Tori Mills in the 38th minute, assisted by Anna Snee.

ESU (2-0, 2-0), the two-time defending PSAC champion and 2015 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region champion, opened the season with a 1-0 win at Lock Haven on Thursday on a 53rd-minute goal by Gombos.

The Warriors held a 12-8 advantage in shots, including 7-3 in the second half.

Junior goalkeeper Jules Harris made three saves for ESU. Harris made her 40th career start and had her 18th shutout (16th solo) in Thursday's win at Lock Haven.

Neira, a two-time All-Region selection and 2014 Daktronics All-America, scored six of her nine career goals as a sophomore.

Neal's assist was the 12th of her career, one from ESU's all-time top 10. Neal, a three-time All-Region and 2014 NSCAA All-America first team selection, already ranks seventh at ESU in career goals (22), including nine goals and five assists on last year's PSAC and regional championship team.

ESU is away for both games next week, traveling to Mansfield on Wednesday and Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday.
