CHEYNEY, Pa. – Sophomore Daisy Dinkins fired in five aces, and senior
Maddie Reichard delivered a team-high seven kills as East Stroudsburg University earned a 3-0 victory over Cheyney on Friday night. Set scores were 25-10, 25-18, 25-11.
The Warriors (12-9, 3-7 PSAC) finished with 16 aces overall, their most in a match since 2013. They are now a perfect 60-0 lifetime against the Wolves (0-18, 0-11 PSAC), and they have not dropped a set in the series since 2004.
Nine different players had at least one kill for the visitors. Sophomore
Sarah Smith and senior
Sarah Fillman followed Reichard with six kills apiece, while sophomore
Sam Dunphy added five.
Dinkins had three kills to go along with her prowess at the service line. She entered the evening with three career aces through her first 22 matches as a Warrior.
Reichard's seven kills were a new season-high, one ahead of her six-kill output in a win over Dominican on Sept. 16. She also contributed two aces and two blocks.
ESU hit .462 as a team in the match, including a .588 output in the first set and a .600 percentage in the third. Reichard, Dunphy and senior
Lydia Redman each totaled a pair of aces in the victory.
Virshawna Campbell had 11 of Cheyney's 17 kills in the match.
The Warriors remain on the road on Saturday afternoon, as they travel to West Chester (17-5, 7-4 PSAC) for a key PSAC Southeast division matchup at 1 p.m.
