LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Freshmen
Brittany Carratura and
Teddy Mostellar registered top-10 performances to pace East Stroudsburg University at Saturday morning's Go-Fast River Run at Lock Haven.
Carratura placed sixth of 87 runners with a 6k time of 23:56.40, helping the Warriors place second out of six teams overall. Mostellar was 10th out of 69 runners in the men's 8k race, as ESU ranked 3rd out of five competing teams.
All Warriors who scored on Saturday finished in the top 30 in their respective events. Carratura was followed by freshman
Krista O'Connor (14th, 24:31.70), senior Abby Kaspszyk (16th, 24:36.50), junior
Gabby Rachmaciej (29th, 25:39.70) and freshman
Morgan Morton (30th, 25:43.70).
After Mostellar on the men's side were freshman
Bryan Perry (12th, 27:18.30), junior
Khai Samuels (16th, 27:24.80), senior
Zack Krieger (18th, 27:25.70) and sophomore
Jordan Cruise (23rd, 27:40.30).
Seven of the 10 ESU scorers did so for the first time in their collegiate careers. Samuels has now placed in the Warriors' top five three times (twice this season), while Rachmaciej and Krieger crack the top five for a second time at ESU.
Several Warrior runners were rested this weekend to prepare for next Saturday's NCAA DII Atlantic Regional meet, which will take place at Lock Haven. The men's 10k race will begin at 10:30 a.m., with the women's 6k event to follow at 11:45 a.m.
