EAST STROUDSBURG - No. 2-ranked East Stroudsburg University scored twice in just over two minutes in the second half, pulling away from Mansfield for a 3-1 win in the regular season finale in PSAC field hockey on Saturday afternoon at Whitenight Field.
ESU (15-3, 8-2) will be the No. 3 seed in next week's PSAC Tournament and will host a first round game on Tuesday afternoon. (

The Warriors finished tied for second in the PSAC standings with Millersville (14-4, 8-2), which holds the tiebreaker by virtue of its 1-0 (2OT) win at ESU on Oct. 11. Shippensburg (14-3, 9-1) is the No. 1 seed and will host the PSAC semifinals and championship game next Friday and Sunday. The Warriors had shared the last two PSAC regular season titles.
Senior midfielder
Hannah Caplan opened the scoring for ESU 4:55 into the game, and it remained 1-0 until 12 minutes into the second half, when junior midfielders
Kelli Shapiro and
Paige Harrold struck to extend the margin to 3-0 at the 47:27 and 49:29 marks.
Mansfield (8-10, 3-7) scored on an untimed penalty corner at the end of regulation on a goal by Katie Lipski.
ESU held advantages of 40-3 in shots and 19-3 in penalty corners, with Mansfield recording a pair of shots and corners in the closing seconds.
Senior goalkeeper
Halle Frisco had one save for ESU, playing the first 63:50. Sophomore
Maddie Richie played the final 6:10.
Brittany Ryan had 21 saves in a strong effort for Mansfield.
Caplan's goal was her fourth of the season and the first since September 12.
Shapiro had her seventh goal of the year and fifth in the last four games, earning PSAC Co-Athlete of the Week honors last week and scoring ESU's first goal in a 2-1 (2OT) win at Kutztown on Wednesday.
Harrold had her third goal of the season to go with seven assists.

Melanie Shambaugh - were recognized prior to the game, and improved to 60-20 in the last four years to extend their program-best record.
The Warriors are 49-11 in the last three seasons, including a 26-4 PSAC record. The 2015 team won ESU's first-ever PSAC and NCAA Division II Championships.
ESU finishes the regular season with a 15-3 record for the third straight season, and is looking for its third straight NCAA Tournament appearance. The Warriors were listed No. 1 in last week's Atlantic Region rankings.
