SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Newcomer Joe Guzzo won the 174-pound title and redshirt sophomore Francesco Palagruto was runner-up at 133 pounds for East Stroudsburg University at the Doug Parker Invitational at Springfield College on Saturday.

Guzzo posted a 4-0 mark in his first action at ESU after transferring from Middlesex CC, earning a pair of one-point decisions in the semifinals (4-3 vs. A.J. Aeberli of Coast Guard) and final (11-10 vs. J.P. Luca of Cortland).

Palagruto was 3-1, culminating with a first-period pin (2:05) vs. Norberto Torres of Springfield in the semifinal, before falling 6-2 to Springfield's Ian Tolotti in the final.

ESU had five placewinners, led by Guzzo and Palagruto.

Redshirt sophomore Mike Raccioppi was fourth at 165 pounds after winning the ESU Open title last weekend.

Two freshmen were placewinners in their ESU debuts - Marquan Payne was fourth at 157, and Peter Nace was sixth at 141.

Four Warriors reached semifinals in Guzzo, Palagruto, Payne and Raccioppi.

ESU opens its dual and PSAC schedule on Tuesday night at Koehler Fieldhouse, hosting No. 6-ranked Pitt-Johnstown at 7 p.m.
