LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Senior Kaylyn West placed 14th in a field of 151 runners in the women's 6k race, securing All-Region accolades for the first time in her collegiate career to highlight East Stroudsburg University's efforts at Saturday's NCAA DII Atlantic Regional meet at Lock Haven.

The ESU women finished eighth out of 22 competing teams, while the men ended up seventh out of 19 teams, with freshman Casey Ellis (39th, 32:47.90) and sophomore Jeremy Smith (40th, 32:50.70) cracking the top 40 in the 10k competition.

The top 25 runners in each race earned All-Region distinction. West had just missed out in the previous two years with a pair of 27th place showings, but she easily made the cut this fall after crossing the line in a time of 21:44.30.

That mark is 25 seconds quicker than her regional time when the race was last at Lock Haven in 2015. West concludes the cross country portion of her senior year having finished as ESU's No. 1 scorer in each of her six races. She secured her second-straight first team All-PSAC finish at the conference meet two weeks ago.

ESU's women's program continues its run of having at least one top 25 finisher at regionals in each of the past eight seasons. Sophomore Rachael Davalos was next up for the Warriors, as she placed 34th with a time of 22:27.70. That concludes a strong debut season for Davalos, as the transfer from West Virginia was ESU's No. 2 scorer in four of her six meets while adding second team All-PSAC honors at California.

Sophomore Rachel Eidson (46th, 22:47.80), senior Samantha Young (68th, 23:17.30) and senior Jasmine Amro (78th, 23:33.00) were the other three scorers for the Warriors. Eidson ranks No. 3 on the team for the first time this fall and the second time overall in her first two seasons at ESU.

California senior Julie Friend, who claimed the PSAC individual title on her home course, added another trophy to her resume on Saturday. Her finishing mark of 20:36.70 was over 40 seconds quicker than West Virginia Wesleyan's Sydney Pineault in second place. Edinboro (67 points) beat out Shippensburg (95 points) in the team standings, while ESU finished with a team total of 235 points.

Ellis' 39th place showing caps off a freshman year in which he led the Warriors at 5 of 6 meets, including both postseason races. ESU continued its season long trend of running in a pack, with the team's top four scorers finishing within 14 seconds of each other. Senior Dan Buccino (45th, 32:59.20) and sophomore Mike Sheptuk (46th, 33:01.30) followed Ellis and Smith individually. All four received second team All-PSAC accolades for the Warriors two weeks ago.

Junior Tom Ciaccio was less than a minute behind the top four, as he took 57th place after crossing the line in 33:27.50. Ciaccio ends the fall as ESU's No. 5 scorer in each of the two postseason competitions.

ESU's team total of 227 points just edged out Charleston (240) and Gannon (241) in the standings. Shippensburg (35 points) won the team title after ending up with four top 10 finishers, while Edinboro (66 points) followed in second. Shippensburg's Robert Moser (30:51.40) claimed the individual title.
