BETHLEHEM - Sophomore Me'saj Closs recorded East Stroudsburg University's No. 3 all-time mark in the women's weight throw, and senior
Christian Castro and junior
Marissa Flim had standout days on the track to lead East Stroudsburg University in its indoor track and field opener at Lehigh on Saturday.
Junior
Aspen Gaita opened the weekend on Friday night with a school record in the women's long jump, posting an NCAA Division II provisional mark of 18-10 3/4 to shatter the standard of 18-1 which she held with Leslie Martin (2007).
ESU athletes combined for 24 total PSAC qualifying efforts, 15 by the women and nine by the men.
Closs had a mark of 50-0 in the weight throw, just over two feet better than her previous PR (47-11 1/4). She also hit a PSAC qualifier of 38-0 3/4 in the shot put.
Castro broke his PR in the 60m hurdles, running an NCAA DII provisional mark of 8.18 in the prelims for the No. 4 time in school history, and an 8.22 for a second place finish in the final. His previous PR was 8.24 seconds.
He also clocked 22.46 in the 200m, a PSAC qualifier which tied him for No. 9 on ESU's all-time list.
Flim ran 7.79 in the women's 60m dash, tied for No. 3 all-time at ESU, to finish second in the final. She tied her previous PR in the prelims with a time of 7.83.
Junior
Pat Monahan was fifth in the finals in the men's 60m dash in 7.03, just five-hundredths off his school record 6.98.
Sophomore
Keondre Morris turned in PSAC qualifiers in the long jump (21-4) and triple jump (43-5 3/4), freshman
Deandre Scott posted a PSAC mark in the triple jump (41-11 1/2) and freshman
Dan Amari hit the PSAC standard in the pole vault (13-5 1/4) in their first competition for ESU.
Sophomore
Austin Horner was 10th in the heptathlon with a PR of 4,288 points, No. 5 on ESU's list. He had a PSAC qualifier in the long jump (21-11) on Friday.
Senior
Jeremy Rigotti also turned in a PSAC qualifier in the 5000m (15:49.13) on Friday, and sophomore
Andrew Schumacher ran ESU's No. 8 time (1:06.82) in the 500m on Saturday.
Gaita had two NCAA DII provisionals on Friday, in the long jump and 60m hurdles (8.81), and also added a PSAC qualifier in the high jump (5-5). Junior
Michayla Weitman, who had a PR and ESU's No. 9 score in the pentathlon Friday, went 17-2 in the long jump.
Four women hit the PSAC high jump standard - Gaita and juniors
Carly Gregas (5-3),
Victoria Collins (5-1) and
Victoria Matthews (5-1).
Four women also had PSAC marks in the throws, led by Closs in the weight and shot put. Sophomore
Sam Giangrasso hit the mark in the weight throw (43-10 1/2), and sophomores
Barbara Grossov (38-11) and
Alexis Schuldes (38-2) qualified in the shot put.

Morgan Dey had the third-fastest time in the 60m dash prelims in a PSAC-qualifying 7.98, with Flim clocking second in both the prelims and final.

Tiana Webster ran 9.67 for a PSAC time in the 60m hurdles.
