YORK, Pa. – Junior Annie Fagan shattered a school record which had stood since 1978 in the 50-yard freestyle, and junior Colleen Dwyer broke her own school mark in the 50 backstroke to lead East Stroudsburg University at Day 1 of the PSAC Championships on Thursday.

Fagan took fourth place in the 50 free with a time of 23.87, earning ESU's highest finish at the conference meet since Christine Swiker was fourth in the 400 individual medley in 2009. The time was 0.26 under the previous school record of 24.13 set by ESU Hall of Famer Karen Linck in 1978, and it is 0.18 under the NCAA DII B qualifying standard of 24.05. Linck's mark was the last remaining from the era before the swim program's reinstatement in 1995.

Earlier in the morning, Fagan qualified for the 'A' final with what had been a personal record of 24.32. Her nighttime performance added 26 points to ESU's team score. Freshman Olivia Lukshides added an additional four points with her 21st place finish in the 50 free, completing the 'C' final in 25.00. That time was just under her preliminary showing of 24.95 which stands as the seventh-quickest in program history.

Dwyer set the tone for the Warriors' 200 medley relay team to cap off the first night of finals. She completed her initial leg in the back in 27.75, 0.14 under her school record of 27.89 set against Millersville on Jan. 14. Juniors Kate Zimmerman, Allison Cardow and Fagan would then go on to finish the relay in sixth place with a time of 1:48.65.

ESU earned its best relay result since 2004, when the 200 medley relay squad placed sixth and the 200 free relay team finished third. Tonight's time was only 0.13 off the school record of 1:48.52 set at the PSAC Championships in 2013..

Freshman Tarah Killane earned six points for the Warriors in the 1000 free, finishing 19th with a time of 10:58.01 which was over 15 seconds quicker than her previous PR. The result moves her up to No. 4 all-time at ESU in the event.

Two other Warriors qualified individually for finals on Thursday, with Zimmerman and Cardow each reaching the 'C' final in the 200 IM. Zimmerman completed the race in 2:12.78 to take 21st place, while Cardow was 0.03 under her previous PR with a time of 2:13.31. That placed her 23rd and it ranks as the No. 8 time in program history.

ESU had five additional PRs in the morning preliminary session. Senior Kelly Buyaskas (25.06), senior Victoria Gurdak (25.42) and Dwyer (25.44) bettered their previous top marks in the 50 free, while senior Samantha Pelletier (11:55.60) took over 19 seconds off her previous PR in the 1000 free.

The Warriors are currently ranked ninth in the team standings with 90 points. They are only two back of California for eighth and 15 behind Gannon for seventh.

Day 2 of the PSAC Championships gets underway at 10 a.m. on Friday with preliminary swims in the 400 IM, 100 butterfly and 200 free. Live results throughout the meet are available here.
