EAST STROUDSBURG – Sophomore guard Noelle Powell scored 17 points to lead three bench players in double figures, and East Stroudsburg University rolled past Bloomsburg by an 87-61 final on Saturday to clinch a first round bye in the PSAC postseason tournament.

Junior guard Imani Brown added 17 points on 7 of 9 shooting, while freshman guard Tiffany Lapotsky totaled a season-high 14 points (6-7 FG). The Warriors (17-7, 13-7 PSAC) have won eight games in a row, and they are now locked into the No. 2 position in the PSAC East standings. ESU will host a quarterfinal round matchup at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1.

All 12 active players scored at least two points for the Warriors, who registered their highest-ever points total in 76 lifetime meetings against the Huskies (9-15, 8-12 PSAC).

With ESU trailing 11-10, Brown sank a 3-pointer with 2:46 left in the opening quarter to begin a 10-2 run by the home side to end the frame. That run grew to 26-6 by the midway point of the second, as a layup by senior guard Madison Tamburini made it 36-17 with 4:22 remaining in the half.

The Warriors made 17 of their first 25 shots in the half (68.0 percent) and took a 45-24 lead into the intermission. ESU would end up shooting a season-best 56.4 percent for the game (31-55).

Bloomsburg never got closer than 16 points in the second half, as the Warriors continued to get contributions from its entire lineup. Lapotsky's 14 points came in a season-high 26 minutes, and she also added four rebounds and four assists. Brown, meanwhile, reached double figures for a seventh time during ESU's current winning streak and the 17th time overall in 2016-17.

Powell, the PSAC leader in 3-point field goal percentage, hit 4 of 8 attempts from long distance today, and she also had a career-high four steals. Powell is up to 51 made 3's on the year, a total which is the fourth-most in a single season by an ESU player.

Sophomore center Meghan Boryeskne added a career-high eight rebounds in 13 minutes off the bench, and freshman forward Dominique Rayam added four points in the closing minutes to match her season high. The Warrior bench outscored Bloomsburg's by a 61-16 margin, easily the highest output of the year for a group which has outscored the opposition in 21 of 24 games (10 by 20+ points).

Seniors Allison Howard, Rachel Falkowski, Courtney Brown and Tamburini were recognized in Senior Day ceremonies prior to the opening tip-off in their final weekend home game of the regular season. The seniors, who have reached the PSAC tournament in all four of their seasons, combined for 22 points and 10 rebounds in the contest.

Seven of those points came from Howard, who passed Gaye Chapman (1990-94) for seventh on ESU's all-time scoring list. She is up to 1,226 points for her career.

The Warriors have two games remaining in the regular season, beginning with their home finale at 6 p.m. on Wednesday against PSAC East leaders Shippensburg. The Raiders (22-5, 17-4 PSAC) have won 17-straight games, and they have won all of their PSAC East contests by at least 10 points.

Notes:

ESU's eight-game winning streak is its largest since the 2006-07 team won nine in a row from Jan. 13 – Feb. 7. That squad finished 25-4 (11-1) and won the PSAC East regular season title.

The Warriors scored 80+ points for a sixth time this season; they are 6-0 on those occasions.
