MANSFIELD, Pa. – Five East Stroudsburg University players scored in double figures, led by 14 points from senior forward
Allison Howard, as the Warriors held off Mansfield for a 68-61 victory on Saturday afternoon.
ESU wraps up the regular season with a record of 18-8 (14-8 PSAC). The Warriors will host No. 6 seed Millersville (10-18, 7-15) in a PSAC quarterfinal game at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Brielle Kelly had 20 points and 15 rebounds for the Mountaineers (5-21, 3-19 PSAC), who end their season on a five-game losing streak.

Tiffany Lapotsky had 12 apiece for ESU. Falkowski's 12 points matched a season-high, and she also led the team with six rebounds and a career-high five steals.
Mansfield led by as many as seven points twice in the first quarter, with the home side maintaining a 15-11 edge at the end of the frame. Trailing 19-16 early in the second, Lapotsky made back-to-back layups and Powell drained a 3-pointer in a 7-0 run which gave the Warriors their first lead of the contest.
Powell hit another shot from long distance with 1:08 on the clock to help the visitors take a 31-28 lead into the intermission.
The Mounties shot 49.0 percent (25-51) from the field on the day to help keep the score close throughout. The teams were still separated by a single possession at the end of the third quarter, with ESU holding on by a 48-46 margin.
Powell's fourth 3-pointer of the game capped an 11-4 run to begin the fourth which gave the Warriors their largest lead of 59-50 with 4:47 remaining. Mansfield trimmed the deficit back down to three at 62-59 with under two and a half minutes to play, but four points from Falkowski highlighted a 5-0 stretch for ESU which put the game out of reach.
The Warriors had five players reach double figures for the first time since Nov. 19 in a 91-74 win over Clarion. Lapotsky registered 10+ points for a third time in the past four contests. She hit 6 of 9 field goal attempts in 24 minutes off the bench.
Today's victory was ESU's 10th in a row against Mansfield. The Warriors have a 56-16 lifetime edge in the series.
Note:
Powell has 55 made 3-pointers this season, a total which ranks third in ESU single season history. Katie Wear (2002-03) is currently second with 56 made 3's, while Maryellen Onofre holds the top spot with 63 3-pointers in 2005-06.
