EAST STROUDSBURG – Redshirt sophomore Dylan Nace earned his fifth fall of the season at 141 pounds, while three other East Stroudsburg University wrestlers fought to the final horn against nationally-ranked competition as the Warriors fell 33-12 to Wheeling Jesuit at Koehler Fieldhouse on Friday night.

The Cardinals (10-5) are currently ranked No. 2 in Super Region I, and eight of their 10 wrestlers in tonight's lineup are ranked regionally. Five of the seven contested bouts were decided via decision.

Nace, who is currently ranked No. 9 in Division II at 141, pinned WJU's Brandon Tenney in 2:29 to improve his season record to 22-4 (14-2 in duals) and his lifetime mark to 48-13 (27-2). He has earned bonus points in half of his 22 triumphs in 2016-17.

The remaining six Warrior points came through a forfeit victory at 184 for senior Tyler Richardson. The Brick, N.J., native is now 21-8 on the year (14-2 in duals), and he is 7-1 in his last eight bouts dating back to Jan. 13.

Senior Connor Maliff (133), redshirt sophomore Blake Cohen (149) and senior Brandon Steele (197) each performed well against nationally-ranked opponents. Maliff held a 2-0 lead over No. 12 Dustin Warner in the final minute of the third period before Warner used a takedown and the riding time point to snatch a late win.

No. 6 Dante Nania from Wheeling Jesuit also needed the riding time point to edge out a 4-3 victory over Cohen. Steele, meanwhile, dropped a tight 6-4 decision to No. 12 Terrance Fanning at 197.

Warner was a 2015 NCAA qualifier at 125, while Nania is ranked first in the region and qualified for NCAAs in 2016 at his current weight class.

ESU (4-12) remains at Koehler Fieldhouse for its next dual, with the Warriors taking on Millersville at 7 p.m. next Friday.
