NEW YORK – Select members of East Stroudsburg University's track & field squad traveled to New York City to take part in the Armory Invitational on Friday, with a school record from senior Erin Brady and program top-10 performances from senior Steve Morgan and junior Ronald D'Eliseo highlighting day one of the meet for the Warriors.

Brady broke a record which had stood since 2001 in the 500-meter dash, posting a banked track time of 1:17.10. That mark is 0.42 quicker than Shavanna Ross' old record of 1:17.52, and it is over two seconds faster than her previous PR of 1:19.11 set at Lehigh last Saturday. Brady finished sixth out of 24 runners on Friday, and she was first among Division II competitors.

Morgan completed the preliminary round of the 60m hurdles in an NCAA DII provisional time of 8.06, quicker than both his season-best of 8.18 and his career-mark of 8.14 set at the Armory on Feb. 5 last season. It is the second-fastest time in ESU program history, behind only an 8.04 from Rusty Smith set at the NCAA Championships in 2008.

D'Eliseo finished the 400m in 49.46, a mark which places him No. 5 all-time in the ESU record book. He placed eighth out of 59 runners and was the top finisher among DII runners. D'Eliseo and senior Robert Garvey were both under the PSAC banked track standard of 51.00, with Garvey taking 15th place in the DI-filled race with a time of 50.29.

Morgan and junior Christian Castro (8.37) each qualified for the semifinal round in the 60m hurdles. In the semis, Morgan crossed the line in 8.11, finishing one-hundredth of a second out of the last qualifying spot for the finals. He settled for 10th place overall, while Castro (8.35) took 19th place. Eight of the nine finalists in the event came from DI institutions.

Sophomore Victoria Matthews added another PSAC time for the Warriors in the women's 400m, completing the race in 1:00.32.

Earlier in the afternoon, sophomore Aspen Gaita took part in the 60m hurdles. She advanced out of the preliminary round with a time of 8.91 and placed 19th in the semifinals with a mark of 8.75. That is 0.16 above her ESU and PSAC-record time of 8.59 set on Dec. 9, but it is still quicker than the NCAA DII provisional standard of 8.84.

Day one concluded with junior Kaylyn West, Matthews, senior Lauren Toth and junior Samantha Young posting the No. 4 all-time program mark in the distance medley relay. The foursome finished up the relay in 12:16.16, taking eighth place behind seven DI schools.

Senior Alec Lederer and senior La Treil Ridgeway traveled to New York to compete in day two of the invitational. Lederer completed the 3000m in a PSAC time of 8:46.62, over eight seconds under the banked standard of 8:55.00, and Ridgeway posted a season-best effort of 45-8 1/2 in the triple jump.
