ESU vs. Winston-Salem

The Warriors jumped out to a 5-0 lead over the Rams through four innings, plating a single run in the first and two apiece in the third and fourth frames.

Senior Danielle Wissinger drove in a pair of runs early on, delivering an RBI single in the first and an RBI double in the third.

A walk by sophomore Samantha Pickar and a single by freshman Kaylee Hazewski began a two-out rally for ESU in the fourth. Both crossed the plate on a two-run single by Vicendese.

The Rams reduced the deficit down to 5-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh, when a pair of Warrior errors helped level up the score. Junior RHP Mary Wallick stranded runners at the corners with two outs to ensure that the game would continue on to extras.

ESU wasted no time retaking the lead in the eighth. Wissinger started the inning on second with international tiebreaker rules in effect, and she was brought home on a run-scoring double by freshman Rachel Grabowski. Oren then delivered the big blow with her first homer of the season to up the lead to 8-5.

The Warriors did not let up, as singles by Pickar, Hazewski and Vicendese tacked on a ninth run. Wallick (2-3) allowed only the initial baserunner on second to score in the bottom half of the inning, as ESU secured its third victory of the season.
