EAST STROUDSBURG – Sophomore Aspen Gaita established a new school and Eiler-Martin Stadium record in the 100-meter hurdles, earning one of seven victories on the day for East Stroudsburg University in the 12th annual All-American Meet on Saturday.

Gaita took 0.17 off her previous ESU and stadium record while registering an NCAA Division II provisional time of 14.16. That mark was half a second quicker than her next-closest competitor in the field of 12. Later in the afternoon, Gaita placed second out of 20 in the long jump with a top effort 18-6 which improved on her previous season best by over a foot and ranks her tied for third all-time in program history.

Senior Steve Morgan completed the sprint hurdle sweep for the Warriors on the men's side, taking first out of 13 runners after matching his season-best NCAA DII provisional time of 14.44.

ESU had five of the top seven finishers in the event, with all five under the PSAC standard of 16.00. Junior Christian Castro was second with a time of 14.92 which was one-hundredth off his season best, sophomore Akeim Thomas was third with a new PSAC-qualifying effort of 15.19, sophomore Mike Matrisciano was sixth (15.60) and freshman Anthony Del Popolo registered a new season-best time of 15.67 in seventh.

Thomas was one of five new PSAC qualifiers on the men's side. Junior Zack Krieger qualified individually for the first time after placing fifth out of 50 runners in the 1500m with a time of 4:05.17, and senior Alex Zubko booked his spot in the 5000m after finishing second out of 30 runners with a time of 15:19.22.

The other two new qualifiers were in the field, with freshman Darnell Randall reaching PSACs in the long jump (22-4 1/2) and sophomore Nate Sharrah qualifying in the pole vault (13-1 1/2). Randall's jump ranked him second out of 33, and it was the furthest by any Warrior so far this season.

Other first-place performances for the men came from senior Alec Lederer in the 3000m steeplechase (9:34.60) and the 4x100m relay foursome of junior Montel Johnson-Troupe, Thomas, Morgan and sophomore Pat Monahan (42.18). Paul Wagner, a 2010 ESU alum, also took first in the hammer throw with a top heave of 197-2 which was near his school PR of 203-2 that ranks No. 2 all-time.

Two other ESU women, along with a relay team, joined Gaita in registering first-place finishes. Freshman Tiana Webster beat out 45 other sprinters in the 100m with a new PR of 12.34 which is tied for No. 8 all-time in program history. Junior Kaylyn West was first in the 1500m (4:50.71) and sophomore Marissa Flim, Webster, sophomore Leiana Dean and freshman Morgan Dey (48.55) topped the field in the 4x100m relay.

Dey would later add a new PSAC qualifying time in the 100m, placing sixth after crossing the line in 12.66. Flim also turned in a strong time in the event, finishing third with a mark of 12.54.

Freshman Barbara Grossov was another new PSAC qualifier for the women, placing sixth in the shot put (37-4 1/2), just behind freshman teammate Alexis Schuldes in fourth place with a season-best throw of 38-6 3/4.

Other new season-bests in the field included senior Brandie Tartza in the pole vault (11-1 3/4) and freshman Me'Saj Closs in the discus (121-1). Tartza, who placed second in the event, matched her PR which currently ranks third in program history.

The ESU women had four additional top-three individual efforts. Senior Lauren Toth was second out of 58 runners in the 800m with a season-best time of 2:19.38, while third-place showings were registered by junior Samantha Young in the 3000m (10:41.65), Webster in the 200m (26.12) and junior Taylor Watkins in the javelin (126-1).

The men had five additional top-three individual performances. Two of those were runner-up efforts, as freshman Andrew Schumacher recorded a new season-best in the 400m hurdles (54.55) and Monahan placed second out of 48 in the 100m (10.88). Third-place showings included freshman Austin Horner in the long jump (22-2 1/2), Castro in the 200m (22.42) and freshman Noah Lockwood in the discus (149-5).

ESU ended the afternoon with a total of 36 PSAC-qualifying marks, including six new qualifiers.
