ESU DII ADA Awards History (PDF)

EAST STROUDSBURG - A total of 100 student-athletes from East Stroudsburg University received Academic Achievement Awards from the Division II Athletic Directors Association for the 2016-17 academic year, it was released late Friday.

The Warriors' record-setting number of DII ADA recipients, which requires a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average through at least four semesters of college work, adds to department records for overall GPA (3.22), women's GPA (3.36), men's GPA (2.98), PSAC Scholar-Athletes (221) and PSAC Scholar-Athlete percentage (48%) during the most recent academic year.

A total of 18 student-athletes received the award for at least the third time in their careers - Ben Bortz and Jay Young (baseball), Sean Hagerty, Zack Krieger and Alex Zubko (men's track & field/cross country), Kelley Anne Stuetz (women's track & field/cross country), Danielle Ard, Emily Howell and Robin Stevenson (field hockey), Devon Ackerman (football), Emily Fitzsimmons (lacrosse), Hannah Gombos, Shea Neal and Andrea Polanco (women's soccer), Kaitlyn Casciole (swimming), Amber Jadus and Kayla Loar (tennis) and Hanna Bergen (volleyball).

ESU previously had 75 selections in 2016, preceded by 65 in 2015, 56 in 2014, 58 in 2013, 70 in 2011, 52 in 2009 and 2010, and 44 in 2008.

ESU's list includes:

* 6 Academic All-America selections - Devon Ackerman (football), Hannah Gombos and Andrea Polanco (women's soccer), Danielle Ard and Emily Howell (women's at-large/field hockey) and Alex Zubko (men's track & field/cross country)

* 7 Academic All-District selections - Ackerman (football), Shea Neal, Gombos and Polanco (women's soccer), Ard and Howell (women's at-large/field hockey) and Zubko (men's track & field/cross country)

* 3 PSAC Top 10 selections - Ackerman (football), Howell (field hockey) and Zubko (men's track & field/cross country)

* ESU's Men's and Women's Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award winners - Polanco and Zubko

* 20 All-PSAC selections

ESU's 103 Academic All-District selections in the last 10 years (2007-08 through 2016-17) are tied for second-most of 18 schools in the PSAC, and its 29 PSAC Top 10 selections in that time frame are third in the conference.
