BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - Emily Miller had a goal and two assists and goalkeeper Rachel Vellis made six saves, leading No. 8-ranked LIU Post to a 3-1 win over No. 1-ranked East Stroudsburg University in non-conference NCAA Division II field hockey on Thursday afternoon.

Senior back Sydney McCarthy scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season for ESU (5-1), which was looking to match its third-best unbeaten start in program history.

Miller set up the game's first goal by Alyssa Lopresti 5:35 into the contest, before McCarthy tied it for ESU on a penalty corner, assisted by junior midfielder Kelli Shapiro, at the 21:00 minute mark of the first half.

The tie lasted for just 2:34, as Miller scored to give LIU Post a 2-1 halftime lead. Sammy Bell extended the lead to 3-1 at the 7:30 mark of the second half, again assisted by Miller.

ESU held a 10-6 advantage in shots, but Vellis made six saves and LIU Post registered a defensive save.

McCarthy has six goals and five assists through six games, with a hand in 11 of the Warriors' 19 goals this fall.
