SCRANTON, Pa. – East Stroudsburg University won three of the five finished singles matches, but that was not enough to overcome a 3-0 hole after doubles, as the Warriors fell 5-3 at Scranton in a non-conference dual on Saturday afternoon.
The No. 4 singles match between senior
Elizabeth Bartoli and Scranton's Sakira Fussner was unfinished due to rain.
Sophomore
Marina Zardet, sophomore
Aubrianna Stetina and junior
Lauren Morrissey earned straight-set victories for ESU (0-2) at No. 1, 5 and 6 singles, respectively. All three are now 2-0 on the year; Zardet has won seven-consecutive singles matches dating back to last spring.
The Royals (3-0) dropped a total of eight games in their three doubles wins. Emily Kelly clinched the match for Scranton at No. 3 singles.
The Warriors return to action next weekend, taking part in the Bloomsburg Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
