EAST STROUDSBURG - Sophomore back
Jessica Woodbyrne scored the game's only goal 4:10 before halftime, lifting East Stroudsburg University to a 1-0 win over Slippery Rock in PSAC women's soccer and its fourth straight victory on Saturday afternoon at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
Woodbyrne scored on an assist from senior midfielder
Sammi Ortiz and senior goalkeeper
Jules Harris made three saves for her third solo shutout and fifth overall shutout of the season.
ESU (7-2-1, 7-2) has outscored its opponents 16-1 in its four-game run, and has won seven of its last eight PSAC games overall.
Woodbyrne's goal was her fourth of the season, second-most on the team from the first-year starter at left back. ESU has a 26-5 goal differential this fall.
The Warriors held a 15-7 advantage in shots, 7-3 in the first half and 8-4 in the second half.
Kylie Downs had five saves for Slippery Rock (5-4-1, 5-3-1).
ESU has topped SRU in the PSAC Tournament in each of the last two years, 2-0 in the 2015 semifinals and 5-0 in the 2016 quarterfinals, on the way to the second and third of its three straight PSAC championships.
Harris, the 2016 PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Year, pushed her school-record career totals to 33 total shutouts (27 solo). She has allowed just five goals - one each in five separate games - and has allowed more than one goal in just three of 33 games since the start of last season. She improved to 52-14-5 in 71 career starts.
The Warriors are back in action on Wednesday against Lock Haven at 4 p.m., in the first game of a doubleheader at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
