INDIANA, Pa. – Senior guard Imani Brown totaled 17 points to move within five of 1,000 for her collegiate career, but it was not enough for East Stroudsburg University in a 79-61 defeat at hot-shooting IUP on Wednesday evening.

The Crimson Hawks (14-0, 9-0 PSAC), who were ranked No. 3 in the most-recent WBCA national Division II rankings, maintained their perfect start to the season, while the Warriors (9-4, 7-2 PSAC) saw a four-game winning streak come to an end.

IUP did most of its damage in the first half, hitting 21 of 31 field goal attempts (67.7%) and 7 of 12 shots from 3-point range (58.3%). Trailing 11-8 early on, the home side closed the first quarter on a 20-2 run and ultimately took a 54-33 lead into the intermission. The Warriors got no closer than 16 points in the second half.

Sophomore guard Jordan Hertz added 11 points for ESU to join Brown in double figures. Hertz, who has now scored 10+ points in five games this season, also grabbed a team-high six rebounds and had three of the Warriors' 14 steals in the contest.

Brown hit 6 of 18 shots from the floor and 5 of 7 free throw attempts in the setback. She has reached double digits in 12 of 13 games this season and is averaging 20.9 points per game overall.

ESU, which shot over 50 percent from 3-point range in Saturday's 91-60 win at Lock Haven, could not replicate that success tonight, with the Warriors finishing 3 for 23 from long distance (13.0%).

IUP's 54 first-half points were the most scored by an ESU opponent in a half since the 2007-08 season. Carolyn Appleby led the Crimson Hawks with 19 points (8-12 FG, 3-5 3FG), while Megan Smith (15 points, 10 rebounds) registered a double-double and Lauren Wolosik supplied nine points and 10 of the team's 21 assists.

The Warriors have only PSAC East opponents remaining on the schedule for the remainder of the regular season. ESU returns to Koehler Fieldhouse for a 1 p.m. matchup against Bloomsburg this Saturday.
