EAST STROUDSBURG – Sophomore guard Sadie Cresswell supplied a career-high 19 points off the bench, and sophomore guard Tiffany Lapotsky added 18 points as East Stroudsburg University topped Shippensburg by a 72-61 final at Koehler Fieldhouse on Wednesday evening.

Sophomore guard Jordan Hertz added 12 points, seven assists and seven rebounds for the Warriors (8-3, 6-1 PSAC) who won their third-straight game overall and snapped an eight-game losing streak to the Raiders (1-11, 0-6 PSAC). Freshman forward Marlene Bassett (eight points, 10 rebounds) finished two points shy of her first-career double-double.

Cresswell and Lapotsky each had 15 points in a dominant first half for the home side, as ESU took a 46-25 advantage into the intermission. Cresswell entered the game with the Warriors leading 13-12 late in the first quarter, and she scored the team's next 13 points to expand the advantage to 26-18 early in the second.

Lapotsky then scored 13 of ESU's final 16 points during a 16-3 run to end the quarter which gave the Warriors their largest lead of 21 points.

Shippensburg outscored the hosts in each of the final two quarters, but could get no closer than nine points in the final two minutes of the contest. The Raiders finished first in the PSAC East a year ago after going 24-7 (18-4 PSAC) but have struggled to replace six seniors who accounted for over 90 percent of the team's scoring on the year. Kryshell Gordy had 13 points and 15 rebounds for Shippensburg on Wednesday, while Ariel Jones totaled a team-high 17 points.

Cresswell set a new career-high in scoring for a second-straight game, as she netted 15 points in ESU's win over Mansfield last Saturday. She hit 7 of 13 field goal attempts and went 3 of 7 from 3-point range to reach double figures for a fifth time this season.

Lapotsky, who averages 13.4 points per game on the year, returned to double figures after being held to four points over the past two contests. She hit 6 of 11 field goal attempts and was also 3 for 7 from long distance.

Hertz's seven assists were the most by any Warrior player this season, and she finished one helper shy of her career high of eight which was set on Dec. 30, 2016 at Cheyney.

ESU cruised to a win despite receiving only seven points from leading scorer Imani Brown. The senior guard, who is still averaging 21.1 points per game overall, was held to single digits for the first time in 11 games this season.

Shippensburg had won 15 of the previous 16 meetings between the two schools entering tonight. ESU's last win was a 71-62 home triumph on Jan. 11, 2014.

The Warriors, who continue to lead West Chester (7-4, 4-3) by two games in the PSAC East standings, return to the court at 2 p.m. on Saturday for a road matchup at Lock Haven (2-9, 1-6).
