EAST STROUDSBURG – After a tough loss to Millersville last night, East Stroudsburg University needed less than 24 hours to get back on track.

Junior Sarah Smith had 10 kills and 16 digs, while junior Jasmine Williams added nine kills and four blocks to power the Warriors to a convincing 3-0 sweep over West Chester at Koehler Fieldhouse on Saturday.

ESU (18-5, 8-3) now leads the Golden Rams (17-6, 6-5) by two games in the PSAC Southeast division standings after earning its first home win in the series since 2006. Set scores were 25-20, 25-14, 25-21.

Williams' nine kills were backed by a .643 attack percentage, pacing a Warrior attack which hit .271 overall in the match. ESU also held a 10-4 edge in service aces, with Smith, senior Tina Predojevic and freshman Hailey Jones supplying three apiece.

All three of Jones' aces came in a 5-0 run for the Warriors that began with the home side trailing 12-10 in the opening set. ESU would ultimately win 9 of 10 points in that stretch to open up a 19-13 advantage, and back-to-back kills from Smith finished up the set shortly afterwards.

The Warriors never trailed after winning the first four points in a dominant second set. With the score tied 21-21 in the third, Predojevic registered a kill and an ace during another 4-0 run to clinch the match.

Julia Vreeswyk finished with nine kills to lead the offensive effort for West Chester, which was limited to a .152 team hitting percentage and just one block across the three sets.

Smith recorded her 32nd career double-double, and her 13th in 23 matches this season. Junior Sam Dunphy added eight kills (.400%) and six digs, while freshman Kailyn Pyle chipped in seven kills with a .429 attack percentage.

ESU improved to 11-3 at Koehler Fieldhouse this season, and 6-2 against teams which qualified for the NCAA Division II tournament in 2017.

The Warriors have another challenging match on tap next Friday, as they travel to Clarion (16-8, 7-4) for a contest beginning at 7 p.m.
