EAST STROUDSBURG – Junior
Mike Raccioppi won the 174-pound title at the 52nd Annual ESU Open on Saturday at Koehler Fieldhouse.
Raccioppi went 5-0, opening with a pair of major decisions against wrestlers from American and Old Dominion.
He notched a fall (0:53) against Bucknell's Frank Guida to advance to the semifinals. Raccioppi recorded a 9-4 decision against Rider's George Walton to reach the finals.
Raccioppi captured the 174-pound title via forfeit from Rider's Dean Sherry. He captured a title at the ESU Open for a second-straight year after winning the 165-pound title in 2017.
Junior
Richard Viruet fell just short of winning the 184-pound title for the Warriors. Viruet went 4-1 and recorded a 2-1 decision against American's Abraham Correa-Medina to reach the finals.
Viruet dropped a 3-1 decision against Maryland's Kyle Jasenski in the 184-pound title match.
Sophomore
Nick Klinoff placed sixth for ESU at 197 pounds after rallying with three consecutive victories to advance to the fifth-place match.
Klinoff recorded decisions against Camden County's Jason Carter (6-4) and Old Dominion's William Baldwin (6-3). He would see Noah Bushman notch a fall (2:41) to secure the fifth-place match.
