EAST STROUDSBURG – Six different East Stroudsburg University swimmers won individual events, led by a pair of season-bests from junior
Olivia Lukshides, as the Warriors cruised to a 128-63 victory over Lock Haven in their home opener at Koehler Fieldhouse on Saturday.
ESU touched the line first in 9 of 11 contested events, including both relays, to pick up its first dual win of the season.
Lukshides contributed to three of the nine Warrior victories. She anchored a 200-yard medley relay squad which also included sophomore
Taylor Howery, sophomore
Julia Harnish, senior
Briana Hall. That group led off the afternoon with a winning time of 1:55.61.
Individually, Lukshides set new season-best times in both the 100 freestyle (54.84) and 200 free (2:00.83), finishing well under the PSAC qualifying standard in both. Today was the first time she had ever broken 55 seconds in the 100 free during a dual competition. Lukshides placed seventh at the PSAC championships in the 200 free last season, and she is also the ESU record holder in that event.
Junior
Tarah Killane and Hall were under the PSAC standard in their victories in the 1,650 free and 50 free, respectively. Killane's time of 19:08.93 was over a minute and a half ahead of her Lock Haven competitor, while Hall completed the 50 free in 25.66.
Other individual wins were recorded by freshman
Sarah Luigard in the 100 butterfly (1:03.80), Howery in the 100 backstroke (1:04.11) and freshman
Emma Billings in the 500 free (5:47.67).
The Warriors finished 1-2 in a trio of events, with runner-up efforts from Billings in the 200 free (2:07.38), junior
Allison Young in the 100 back (1:11.81) and sophomore
Samantha Christman in the 500 free (5:52.96). Luigard was additionally second in the 200 individual medley (2:22.78), and Harnish took second in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.71).
Howery, Christman, Billings and Hall concluded the afternoon with a victory of nearly 11 seconds in the 200 free relay (1:47.65).
The Warriors are off next weekend before returning to action at the TCNJ Invitational. That three-day meet begins on Friday, Nov. 30.
