PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University women's basketball team attempted to overcome a double-digit deficit on Sunday but would come up just short against Jefferson, 70-56, at the Gallagher Center.
ESU (2-3) trimmed a double-digit deficit down to two points after outscoring the Rams 24-13 in the third quarter of action. Jefferson (6-0) held the Warriors to just eight points in the first and fourth quarter to remain unbeaten on the season.

Jordan Hertz tallied a game-high six assists to go along with six points, five rebounds, and four steals.
Jefferson was paced by Jessica Kaminski, who notched a game-high 27 points and 15 rebounds. Kaminski finished 11-of-14 from the field while also adding a team-high five assists. Beverly Kum tallied 18 points for the Rams and finished 8-for-8 at the free-throw line, while Erin Maher recorded 14 points and seven boards for Jefferson.
The Rams would carry an 18-8 lead into the second quarter of action after going 7-of-18 from the floor as a team. ESU looked to close the gap in the second quarter, shooting 46.7 percent (7-of-15) from the floor after hitting just 21.4 percent of its shots in the opening quarter.
ESU trimmed the deficit to nine midway through the second quarter with a 5-0 run. Powell took a feed from sophomore
Abby Schoffstall and drained a 3-ball with 5:34 remaining to make it 28-19. The Warriors would stay within single-digits of the Rams until Jefferson closed the half on a 6-0 run over the final 2:55 of play.
The third quarter saw the Warriors come charging back into the contest as Pike started a 9-0 rally for ESU with 2:29 left on the clock. She would connect from downtown 28 seconds later to trim the Jefferson lead to 50-45. Pike drained her third-straight trey with four ticks left on the clock to send ESU into the fourth quarter trailing 50-48.
Jefferson used a 5-0 run in the fourth quarter to open a 59-51 lead and wouldn't look back, extending its lead to 14-points with 1:17 left in the contest. The Rams hit 7-of-8 free throw shots in the quarter and finished the contest 19-of-26 from the charity stripe.
The Warriors return home to open PSAC play against Mercyhurst inside Koehler Fieldhouse on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 1 p.m.
