ESU Wrestling Records 22 Individual Victories at Bob Quade Cyclone Open

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Junior Richard Viruet tallied a third-place finish wrestling at 174 pounds and went 4-1 for East Stroudsburg University on Sunday at the Bob Quade Cyclone Open hosted by Centenary University.
 
Viruet recorded his first victory of the day by notching a 10-4 decision against Jacquan McPherson from Lackawanna College. The Springfield, Mass. Native followed by earning a 13-4 major decision against Michael Abidin from Nassau Community College. Viruet also tallied a 3-1 decision before securing a third-place finish after a pair of no-contest decisions.
 
Junior Pierre Liciaga was one of two Warriors to record a top-six finish on the day as he went 3-2 at 149 pounds. The East Stroudsburg native started with a 7-5 decision against Cristiaan Dailey from Franklin & Marshall before dropping a 16-1 technical fall. Liciaga rallied by handing Bartley Novak from Lackawanna a 6-2 decision. He recorded a fall (2:09) to stay alive before seeing his day come to an end with a 12-0 major decision loss.
 
Nick Klinoff delivered the other top-six finish for ESU as the sophomore from Phoenix, N.Y. went 3-2 at 197 pounds. Klinoff started his day with a fall (4:51) and secured a 6-3 decision after dropping his second bout. His day would come to an end after dropping a 4-3 decision against Mike Waszen from Franklin & Marshall.
 
Sophomore Nick Conetta (133), redshirt sophomore Michael Goebel (141), sophomore Marquan Payne (157), and redshirt sophomore Cameron Kates (285) each went 2-2 on the day for ESU.
 
The Warriors are back in action on Dec. 8 at the PSAC Wrestling Championship. The event will be hosted by Kutztown University and will begin at 9 a.m. The next dual for ESU will be on Dec. 15 as the Warriors travel to Brookville, N.Y. to face LIU Post at 1 p.m.
