BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team registered 14 PSAC qualifying marks on Saturday at the Lehigh Fast Times event hosted by Lehigh University.
Sophomore
Dominic Walton delivered a NCAA Division II provisional mark with a throw of 16.56m (54-4) in the shot put. The mark was a career-best for Walton and second-longest in program history, behind Paul Ferency's 58-1 1/4 throw in 1979.
The Warriors would be paced by senior
Pat Monahan, junior
Darnell Randall, and senior
Akeim Thomas as the three combined for six PSAC qualifying marks on the day.
Monahan placed second in the 60m dash with a time of 7.02 and seventh in the 200m with a mark of 23.15.
Randall notched his PSAC qualifying marks in the high jump (6-2 3/4) and Long Jump (21-10 1/4).
Thomas finished fourth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.32 and sixth in the 200m with a mark of 23.06.
ESU had a pair of athletes participate in the men's heptathlon as junior
Garth Estadt tallied 4294 points, while freshman
Daniel Daley placed sixth overall with 4012 points. Estadt placed second in the long jump with a PSAC qualifying mark of 21-4 1/4. Daley finished second in the 60m hurdle with a time of 8.69 to hit his qualifying mark.
Sophomore
Dan Amari placed ninth in pole vault at 4.35m to earn his qualifying mark. The Warriors had a pair of athletes hit PSAC qualifying marks in the weight throw as sophomore
Dominic Walton (48-11) placed ninth, while senior
Jon Hummel (45-1) placed 11th.
The 60m hurdles would also see freshman
Jalen Bailey (8.27), who finished second and senior
Mike Matrisciano (8.56) hit qualifying times on the day for ESU. Junior
Nick Lawrence posted the final qualifying time of the day for the Warriors with a mark of 7.14 in the 60m dash.
Freshmen
Sean Roberts and
Daryn Blackwell made their debuts for ESU as Roberts placed ninth in the 500m with a time of 1:09.94, while Blackwell just missed matching the qualifying mark in the weight throw at 43-5.
ESU also ran the 4x400m with Lawrence, Matrisciano, Thomas, and sophomore
Omari Slocombe placing seventh with a time of 3:32.35.
The Warriors are back in action on Jan. 10 as ESU travels to Kutztown, Pa. for the Golden Bear Invitational hosted by Kutztown University.
