Box Score

MANSFIELD, Pa. – Junior guard Ann McKnight set a new career-high with 14 points, leading four East Stroudsburg University players in double figures during a 60-44 victory at Mansfield on Saturday.

The Warriors (14-6, 12-4 PSAC) secured their third win in a row overall, and they earned a season sweep over the Mountaineers (7-16, 5-12) for a sixth-consecutive season.

McKnight hit 5 of 10 shots from the field and 4 of 6 attempts from 3-point range to easily surpass her previous scoring high of seven points. She also matched a career-best with four steals in the win.

Sophomore guard Tiffany Lapotsky added 13 points on 6 of 11 shooting for ESU, while sophomore guard Jordan Hertz and freshman forward Marlene Bassett added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Mia Leonard totaled 15 points and 14 rebounds off the bench for Mansfield, which dropped its fourth contest in a row.

The Warriors jumped in front quickly, starting the game on an 8-0 run over the first two and a half minutes and extending their lead to 18-4 with 3:19 remaining in the opening quarter.

The offense went cold, however, missing its first 11 shots of the second quarter and allowing the Mounties to pull within two at 23-21 with 4:33 left before halftime. Sophomore guard Sadie Cresswell hit ESU's first field goal of the frame on a layup with 3:28 on the clock, and a buzzer-beating layup by senior guard Imani Brown had the advantage back up to 33-25 heading into the break.

The teams combined for only six field goals and 21 points in a low-scoring third, and ESU's lead was down to 42-37 at the end of the quarter.

McKnight scored eight of her 14 points in the final 10 minutes, and one of her four 3-pointers capped a 9-1 run to begin the fourth which made the score 51-38 in favor of the Warriors. Mansfield got as close as seven points with 4:08 left, but ESU netted the last nine points of the contest to end up with a comfortable final margin on the scoreboard.

The Mounties were playing without leading scorer Brielle Kelly, whose 19.0 points per game ranks her fourth in the PSAC. Kelly totaled 35 points in the first meeting between the two teams on Dec. 30.

Brown also had 35 points in that first contest, an 83-79 overtime victory for the Warriors, but she was limited to seven points and a team-high seven rebounds in today's road win.

ESU had a 20-10 turnover advantage and a 14-3 edge in steals. Hertz matched McKnight for the team lead with four steals, while Brown added three thefts for the visitors.

The Warriors remain a game and a half back of West Chester (17-4, 14-3) for first place in the PSAC East standings. They will return to Koehler Fieldhouse on Wednesday night, hosting Lock Haven in a PSAC East matchup at 6 p.m.
