EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University returned to non-conference play with a dominant 9-0 victory over Holy Family at Wolbers Courts on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors posted shutouts in all three doubles matches over the Tigers (0-12), and they dropped only five games across the singles contests. ESU (3-7) improved to 3-3 in the spring portion of its schedule.
The 8-0 wins in doubles were recorded by sophomores
Marina Zardet and
Aubrianna Stetina at No. 1, seniors
Elizabeth Bartoli and
Devin Presby at No. 2 and freshmen
Amanda Jackson and
Quinn McCluskey at No. 3.
Zardet and McCluskey completed perfect afternoons in singles play, as Zardet earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 and McCluskey registered an 8-0 win at No. 4. The teams played eight-game pro sets after ESU had clinched the dual win.
Other singles victories were recorded by Presby at No. 2 (6-1, 6-1), Stetina at No. 3 (6-0, 6-2), Bartoli at No. 5 (8-1) and junior
Lauren Morrissey at No. 6. Morrissey's opponent was forced to retire due to injury.
ESU has another non-conference matchup scheduled for Monday, as the Warriors travel to Division I Lafayette for a dual at 4 p.m.
