WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Junior Aspen Gaita and freshman Gabrielle D'Amore had NCAA Division II provisional efforts, and East Stroudsburg University registered 12 new PSAC-qualifying marks at West Chester's Quad Meet on Saturday.

The Warrior men and women each placed second at the meet, which included ESU, West Chester, Bloomsburg and Kutztown. ESU took first place in eight events, and six Warriors moved up in the program's all-time top 10 lists.

Making her outdoor debut after earning first team All-America accolades in the pentathlon indoors, Gaita was only 0.05 off her own ESU record in the 100-meter hurdles with her DII provisional time of 13.99. That mark was over a second faster than any of the other 10 athletes in the field. In the field, Gaita posted a PSAC-qualifying distance during her second place showing in the long jump (18-3 1/4). Her all-time best of 19-0 in the event is also an ESU record outdoors.

D'Amore had a top throw of 123-2 in the javelin during her collegiate debut at Charlotte two weeks ago. She shattered that mark this weekend, winning the event with a DII provisional distance of 139-4 which ranks No. 4 in ESU program history. D'Amore's effort established a new ESU freshman record as well, bettering the previous mark of 134-0 by Kahla Doran in 2007. Junior Hannah Marth added a fourth place result in the javelin, with a top distance of 124-11 which was just off her season best of 125-5.

Sophomore Me'Saj Closs entered the program record books in the discus and hammer on Saturday. She won the discus with a top effort of 127-6 which is No. 7 all-time, and she took second in the hammer with a toss of 147-0 which ranks eighth.

Both marks were new PSAC qualifiers. Sophomores Alexis Schuldes and Barbara Grossov also qualified for PSAC's in the hammer. Schuldes' mark of 140-4 placed her third on Saturday, and it ranks 10th all-time at ESU. Grossov was seventh with her qualifying distance of 133-10.

Sophomores Sarah Klag and Tiana Webster had the other first-place showings for the women in the 400m and 100m, respectively. Klag's time of 59.10 was a new season-best. Webster (12.75) and sophomore Morgan Dey (12.81) finished 1-2 in the 100m.

Senior Kaylyn West had the last of ESU's new PSAC qualifiers on the women's side. She placed second in the 1500m with a PR time of 4:44.99 which is No. 9 in program history.

Senior Ronald D'Eliseo and sophomore Andrew Schumacher, meanwhile, claimed the top two spots in the 400m hurdles for the ESU men. D'Eliseo's new PSAC time of 54.01 just edged out Schumacher (54.10), who took over a second and a half off his previous season best. Both weren't far off the DII provisional standard of 53.55.

D'Eliseo was one of three first place finishers for the Warrior men, and he was one of five new PSAC qualifiers. Other event winners were freshman Dominic Walton (51-6 1/4) in the shot put and junior Khai Samuels (1:57.52) in the 800m.

Walton's shot put time was just under his DII provisional and ESU freshman record mark of 53-1 1/2 established at Charlotte two weeks ago. He also placed second in the discus with a season-best distance of 152-8 which ranks him eighth in program history.

Freshman Jordan Cruise (4:03.98) and senior Nathan Wojick (4:05.99) added new PSAC times while finishing third and fourth, respectively, in the 1500m. ESU's other new conference qualifiers came in the field, as sophomore Darnell Randall placed second in the long jump (22-9 1/4) and freshman DeAndre Scott was second in the triple jump (42-4 1/4). Randall additionally registered a third-place showing in the high jump (6-4 3/4).

Two other Warriors posted season bests which bettered the PSAC standard. Sophomore Austin Horner was runner-up in the 110m hurdles (15.41) and freshman Dan Amari took second place in the pole vault (14-1 1/4).

Three of ESU's four relays bettered their times from the outdoor opening meet at Charlotte. The women's 4x100m team of Flim, Webster, Dey and freshman Nyle Hill placed second with a time of 48.26 which ranks 10th in program history. Other new season bests were registered by the women's 4x400m foursome of Klag, sophomore Allyson Stitzer, junior Leiana Dean and junior Victoria Matthews (4:03.27) and the men's 4x400m group of Horner, Samuels, Wojick and Schumacher (3:20.34). Schumacher finished his anchor leg in 48.90, pulling the Warriors within 0.03 of first-place Kutztown.

ESU continues its outdoor season at Millersville next Saturday. The Millersville Metrics meet is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
