EAST STROUDSBURG - Freshman midfielder
Krista Mitarotonda scored four goals and senior midfielder
Chessie Rahmer had three, leading No. 18-ranked East Stroudsburg University to a 14-10 win over Kutztown in PSAC women's lacrosse on Wednesday afternoon at Whitenight Field.
ESU (8-2, 7-1) won its fourth straight and remains one game behind West Chester (12-0, 7-0) for the PSAC lead after WCU won 17-9 at Shippensburg.
The Warriors pulled away with a 10-3 run in a 25-minute stretch, beginning with a 5-1 burst in the final 5:37 of the first half to lead 8-3 at intermission.
Junior midfielder
Emma Rufolo, the reigning PSAC Athlete of the Week, had two goals and two assists, junior attack
TJ Jefferis notched a goal and four assists and junior attack
Brooke Fritz had a goal and two assists for the Warriors.

Brielle Curtis also scored for ESU. Curtis had her first career goal on an assist from freshman midfielder

Sophomore goalkeeper
Tatyana Petteway made 12 saves to help the Warriors build a 14-6 lead at the 9:25 mark, before Kutztown (6-7, 3-5) scored the final four goals.
Sarah Gabriele and Lauren Schmidt both had two goals and two assists for the Golden Bears.
Rahmer scored all three of her goals in the first half, the last giving ESU an 8-3 lead, and Jefferis had all four of her assists in the first 30 minutes.
After Kutztown scored to open the second half, ESU used another 5-1 run to extend its lead bookended by goals by Mitarotonda, along with scores from Jefferis, McKenna and Rufolo.
Mitarotonda has 13 goals in ESU's last three games after scoring five goals in a 17-12 win vs. No. 24 Lock Haven, and four goals in a 14-10 win vs. No. 21 IUP, in its two games last week. She has a team-high 35 goals, ranking tied for second on ESU's freshman list, in her first 10 games.
ESU had advantages of 36-25 in shots, 18-8 in draw controls and 30-28 in turnovers.
Mitarotonda (6) and Rahmer (5) led the draw control effort, Rahmer and freshman defender
Kayleigh Pokrivka both had three of ESU's 18 caused turnovers, and Pokrivka (5) and Rufolo (4) led the Warriors in ground balls.
ESU travels to Gannon (3-6, 2-5) for a 1 p.m. start on Saturday. The Golden Knights fell 20-7 vs. IUP on Wednesday.
The Warriors will play four of their final five regular season games on the road as they continue the pursuit of their second straight PSAC championship, after winning their first-ever title last spring.
