EAST STROUDSBURG – Competing in the PSAC tournament for a second-straight year, East Stroudsburg University was eliminated by West Chester in a cold, windy quarterfinal round matchup on Tuesday.
The Golden Rams (10-9), who entered as the PSAC East's No. 2 seed, completed a 5-0 shutout with a victory at No. 3 singles. The third-seeded Warriors (6-9) will conclude their season at Muhlenberg on Thursday, April 26 at 4 p.m.
West Chester dropped a total of five games while sweeping the three doubles matches. Sophomores
Marina Zardet and
Aubrianna Stetina had the closest matchup at the No. 1 position, as they dropped an 8-3 decision to Rylee Power and Shannon Nixon.
The Golden Rams had won the first set in each of the four unfinished singles contests. They advance to face PSAC West No. 1 IUP at Bloomsburg in a semifinal round tilt on Friday.
ESU advanced to the PSAC tournament for a fourth time since 2009 with last Saturday's 7-2 victory at Kutztown. The Warriors went 3-2 against PSAC East competition during the regular season.
