Day 2 Results (Men)  |  Day 2 Results (Women)  |  Day 1 Recap

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Sophomores Austin Horner and Darnell Randall won conference titles, and senior Nathan Wojick and junior Marissa Flim set new school records as part of a highlight-filled afternoon for East Stroudsburg University on Day 2 of the PSAC Outdoor Championships.

Horner becomes the third ESU male in the past seven seasons to win the decathlon, while Randall is the first Warrior to triumph in the men's long jump since 2005. The ESU men are in fifth place in the team standings with 30 points, and the women are currently seventh with 21 points.

Horner held a commanding 223-point lead through the first five events of the multi, and his final total of 6,765 points was ultimately 672 ahead of the next-closest finisher. The New Egypt, N.J., native won the 110m hurdles (15.45) on Friday, and he added PR's in the discus (4th – 100-5) and javelin (3rd – 151-1).

Other events included the pole vault (t-4th, 11-11 3/4) and 1500m (2nd – 4:40.66) Horner's final score is also a new personal best; it ranks 15th in Division II this season and second all-time at ESU, behind only Dan Johnson's mark of 6,925 set in 2012.

Randall claims the PSAC title in the long jump after placing third at the Indoor Championships. His top effort of 23-6 3/4 was just under his PR of 23-8, and it was well ahead of West Chester's Justus Norman (22-11 3/4) in second place.

Randall is the first ESU winner in the men's long jump since Andy Richard stood atop the podium 13 years ago. Horner joined Randall in the top eight, as he took a break from the decathlon to place seventh with a top distance of 22-0 1/4.

The Warriors had eight additional top-eight finishes to go along with Horner and Randall's victories. Wojick took nearly two seconds off his previous season best to earn a third place finish in the 800m. His NCAA DII provisional time of 1:51.73 was 0.24 under Mike Saparito's old ESU record from 2013, and it was only 0.22 back of the first place finisher. Junior Khai Samuels added an additional two points for the Warriors in the event, as his time of 1:54.15 was good enough for seventh place.

Flim also reached a DII provisional standard en route to her school record in the 100m. Her preliminary round time of 11.94 was six-hundredths under Danielle Smith's old program record from 2012. Sophomore Tiana Webster will join Flim in Saturday's final, and with a time of 11.98 she moves up to No. 2 all-time in program history. Sophomore Morgan Dey just missed out on a spot in the top eight, but her preliminary effort of 12.25 is No. 10 all-time at ESU.

Junior Carly Gregas led three Warrior scorers in the women's high jump, as she finished tied for third with a top clearance of 5-3 3/4. Extra attempts led to a tied for sixth place finish for junior Victoria Matthews with the same clearance of 5-3 3/4, while junior Aspen Gaita took eighth with an effort of 5-1 3/4. Gregas cracked the top three at both the Indoor and Outdoor Championships during her third season with the Warriors.

Senior Kaylyn West and junior Michayla Weitman were the other scorers for the ESU women on Friday. West placed fourth in the 3,000m steeplechase for a third-consecutive season, registering a time of 11:26.06.

Weitman completed the two-day heptathlon in fourth place with 4,125 points. She finished in the top four in all three contested events this afternoon, taking third in the long jump (16-1), third in the javelin (106-7) and fourth in the 800m (2:38.56). Weitman's previous top collegiate finish at PSAC's was a sixth-place effort in this year's indoor pentathlon.

ESU has three No. 1 qualifiers for finals on Saturday, with all three in hurdles events. Senior Christian Castro lowered his DII provisional time in the 110m hurdles, as he ran his preliminary heat in 14.36. That time is No. 2 in program history, behind only Steve Morgan's record of 14.23 established last spring, and it is currently tied for 24th in DII this season. Castro will be joined in the finals by junior Mike Matrisciano, who completed the preliminaries in a personal-best time of 15.10.

Sophomore Andrew Schumacher (54.20) and senior Ronald D'Eliseo (54.73) each advanced to Saturday's final in the 400m hurdles, with Schumacher earning the No. 1 qualifying spot. Gaita, meanwhile, is the top qualifier in the women's 100m hurdles after crossing the line in 14.04. She is the defending PSAC outdoor champion in the event.

Other individuals who advanced to finals on Friday include Gaita in the 200m (25.17), Castro in the men's 200m (21.78) and sophomore Allyson Stitzer in the 400m hurdles. Gaita's time is ranked sixth in program history, while Stitzer's is ranked eighth. Sophomore Sarah Klag just missed out on a qualifying spot in the 400m, but her ninth-place time of 58.20 is a new collegiate PR which ranks tenth in team history.

ESU's two 4x100m relay teams also easily advanced to Saturday's finals. The women's foursome of Dey, Flim, Webster and freshman Nyle Hill posted a season-best time of 47.16 which ranks No. 2 all-time at ESU, while junior Pat Monahan, freshman Jordan Duncan-Murphy, freshman Omari Slocombe and Schumacher completed the men's race in 42.81.

Competition on Saturday begins with field events at 11 a.m., while action on the track starts with the men's 4x100m relay final at 12:30 p.m.
