ESU Track & Field Records 14 New PSAC Marks at Gulden Invitational

2018-19 Indoor Season Bests | Full Results

LEWISBURG, Pa. – 14 new PSAC qualifying marks were set on Saturday afternoon by the East Stroudsburg University track & field program at the Gulden Invitational hosted by Bucknell University.
 
Junior Jenna Vledder and junior Rachael Davalos each delivered PSAC qualifying times in the 5000-meter race as Davalos finished with a time of 19:12.39, while Vledder set a personal-best in 18:43.46.
 
Junior Sarah Klag would be victorious for ESU running in the 400-meter race as her time of 59.23 was a personal-best and under the PSAC qualifying time of 1:01.70. Freshman Kylie Stangle set a personal-best in the 800-meters with a time of 2:32.40, while senior Marissa Flim ran to a first-place finish and season-best time of 26.39 in the 200-meter race.
 
The Warriors had a pair of top-three finishers in the 60-meter hurdles as senior Aspen Gaita notched a season-best time of 8.88. The mark is the second-best all-time in program history to her own program-record time of 8.54, which she set in 2017. Freshman Jeanette Jones tallied a third-place finish in the event with a time of 9.44, which is a personal-best and good enough for ninth all-time in program history.
 
On the men's side, sophomore Casey Ellis started his day for the Warriors by claiming a victory in the 5,000-meter race with a PSAC qualifying time of 15:53.00. The mark was also a personal-best for Ellis, who competed in the event for the first time this season.
 
Senior Jonathan Hummel worked his way into the ESU record books with a PSAC qualifying mark of 51-1 in the weight throw for the Warriors. Hummel's throw was a personal best and placed him sixth on the all-time list in program history. Freshman Daryn Blackwell hit a personal-best also in the event with a throw of 47-10, which also qualified him for the PSAC tournament.
 
The Warriors had a pair of PSAC qualifiers and top-five finishers in the 800-meter race as senior Khai Samuels crossed the line in a time of 1:59.08, while freshman Ben Reisenweaver delivered a personal-best run of 1:59.64.
 
Freshman Brendan Shaffer set a personal-best time that also hit a PSAC qualifying mark in the 60-meter dash (7.19), while junior Colin Crosbie placed fourth in the 400-meter race with a PSAC qualifying time of 51.99. Freshman Justin Miller, who qualified earlier this season in the triple jump, tallied a second-place finish with a personal-best mark of 44-6.
 
ESU dominated the 200-meter race with four top-10 finishers and four PSAC qualifying marks. Senior Akeim Thomas, who already qualified for the event, delivered a season-best time of 22.67 to place fourth. Freshman Jalen Bailey (22.70), sophomore Omari Slocombe (22.92), sophomore Jordan Duncan-Murphy (23.11), and freshman Brendan Barton (23.20) all recorded PSAC qualifying times in the event with Bailey, Slocombe, and Barton setting personal-best times.
 
The Warriors head to Bethlehem, Pa. for the John Covert Classic hosted by Lehigh University on Jan. 26. ESU will then host the DeSchriver Invitational on Feb. 2 before heading to Staten Island, N.Y. to participate in the Fast Track National Qualifier on Feb. 8.
